Having read your statement quoted in this article, I respectfully wish to note the following:

Expressing your criticism of Israel - an allied democracy - by voting against it on a core national security interest during an existential war, is deeply concerning.

The Israeli government is obligated to defend our country and people against a vicious enemy that shows no mercy—not for us, nor for their own.
Iran and its terror proxies—Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and militias in Syria and Iraq—have openly declared their genocidal aims against Israel and the Jewish people. Defeating these Islamist extremists is not only Israel’s interest but a shared imperative for the entire free world, including the United States.

In fighting this war, Israel remains committed to international law and strives to minimize harm to innocent civilians.

President Biden’s administration objected to the legislation you voted for, having determined that Israel’s actions in this war do not violate relevant U.S. laws.

If protecting innocent lives is your priority, I urge you to focus on demanding Hamas to release the 101 remaining hostages, including seven American citizens, and lay down their arms. This is the surest way to spare innocent lives on both sides.

Pushing for daylight between the U.S. and Israel on such a critical security matter sends the wrong message to the axis of evil that bears so much responsibility to human suffering and tragedy. Achieving victory against Iran and its proxies is not just Israel’s goal; it is a shared interest of the U.S. and all who seek peace and stability.
