@Maybe4M4@ghostband26 And even then the hype moments and aura are constantly weighed down by Gege's weirdly incessant need to overcomplicate and then over-explain the powers of everyone involved, dragging the pacing down. It's a manga that wants it's big Arabasta arc before it's done it's East Blue.
@Maybe4M4@ghostband26 is rooted in any hard narrative or thematic throughline. 143 chapters later and I couldn't begin to tell you anything interesting about Yuji Itadori, either in terms of his personality or motivations, with a gun to my head. It's very much just "hype moments and aura" the manga.
@Maybe4M4@ghostband26 Shibuya Incident going for the world record of "number of characters that appear and are killed in the same arc with basically zero introduction or characterization."
Actually glazed over reading most of it. I couldn't find myself able to care about any of what was happening.
@ghostband26 Me after reading 143 chapters of poorly contextualized hairstyles throw over-complicated elaborated abilities at each other as a substitute for telling an actual story…
@CH0PPENHEIMER@nomiispunk I think you can assume what we don’t see is filled in. Just assume only those four stacks are missing and you get 51. It’s not that hard to fill in the blanks.
@adir_13 51.
The volume of the completed thing is 63 (7x3x3). We see 4 stacks of three cubes missing from the side (two stacks in the very front and one off each of the other two stacks) 12. 63-12 is 51.
@julianmiflaco I do love how Bumi gave him the advice to be tough like a drill sergeant and as soon as Tenzin started acting like a drill sergeant, Bumi was the first one to complain.
@bogosbinched@postbusters2k16 This is why we need a renaissance of more straightforwardly evil characters. Villains with no tragedy or hardship defining them and entirely driven by a psychopathic need to prove they’re superior to others.
@postbusters2k16 “You’re wrong because you’re a pathetic psychopath!”
“Ok true, but how is what I’m saying actually wrong?”
“You’re a psycho! You kill people!”
“True I’m not consistent in my own morality but how is the driving motive wrong?”
“You’re evil and you’ve killed people!”
@postbusters2k16 Side note: I’ve always found it funny that the biggest reason they could come up with for why Riddler’s full of shit is that he’s an incel and kills random questionably innocent people.
But then never offers a good counter argument to the actual core of his grievances.
