I'm not quite sure how to articulate it, but I feel as though this era was a peak in design. The tech was there to really bring out the best in the art direction. Generally speaking, I miss games looking like and playing like games instead of focus on hyper-realism and "cinema".

Independent games media.

EP has always been that. Always.

I’ve negotiated some great media partnerships and some killer sponsors (like the awesome @PNPGames) over the years but EP has always been independent and frankly, autonomous. Our broadcast and sponsor partners have always let us create the work we wanted to.

That’s a big reason why we had a 20-year run talking about videogames on conventional TV in the US and Canada (almost impossible) and I’ve had the same job for 30 years. 🤯 Thank you!

With the recent news of more media layoffs (hugs and hang-in-theres to the extremely talented people from Polygon and Giant Bomb 👊🏻) and the discombobulated way media sponsorship is working these days, I thought I’d remind y’all that:
