@JohnBrewin_ Remember people saying that in 2002; and that’s when they had 5 eventual Ballon D’or winners in the squad. Makes me sick how far they’ve done fallen.
You can read another “if Portugal figure out how to manage Ronaldo” style World Cup preview 😴😴😴
Or... you can can read 5,000 words on players who likely wont play a minute between them 😍😍😍

@LUFC One of our best players in our first season back in the Prem, still remember his save against Sheff U and his performance away at City. Still a very good keeper there if he gets the right coach / club. All the best Spider Boy.
Ahead of the World Cup; here’s my definitive ranking of World Cup / Euros in the modern era, I.e., when I can remember watching them: 14) South Africa 2010.
(1/4)
Player you haven’t thought about since it finished: Shane Smeltz (NZ)
Scored against the reigning World Champions in a 1-1 draw, on way to NZ going unbeaten through the group stage and knocking Italy out. Then at Gold Coast Utd, he would finish his career in 2023 at Guiseley
Match of the tournament: Ghana 1 Uruguay 1 (Uruguay win on pens):
Slim pickings, but the drama of the Suarez handball coupled with Asamoah Gyan’s miss elevates it.
Honourable mention to Germany 4 England 1 for comedic value and the glimpse of a German team who would win in 2014
Lows: Largely dreadful football across the tournament, with a Dutch team reaching the final by kicking their opponents off the pitch. The Jabulani ball being laugably lightweight. The din of the Vuzuzelas haunting our memories like Kurtz in his den in Apocolypse Now.
Highs: The coronation of the greatest football side of the era in Spain, winning their maiden title playing a more conservative brand of football than their Euros triumphs. A rekindling of the past with Uruguay going on a generational run. The Hand of God tribute from Luis Suarez
@MilanZak6 2010 may be the only World Cup in modern memory to be actively bad. Was reading a tournament review of it recently and had forgotten large tracts of it.
@MilanZak6 Hard disagree. One of the greatest World Cup marches ever in Brazil-Belgium in Kazan. That Belgian comeback against Japan. South Korea beating Germany. A likeable underdog in Croatia reaching the final. Only bad spot was uninispiring winners in France.
@Kershaw444 Would absolutely love to see it work for him at Leeds but he’s just a step off in terms of quality. Get a decent fee for him and wish him all the best
@ccfcben At least three ex Leeds men will go there, potentially James, Piroe, Bryam. And anyone who plays half decently for Turkey or Algeria in the World Cup.
@GeorgeElek Predicted them to finish second bottom and couldn’t be happier to be wrong. Ex Leeds Alimni, a big Kerryman at centre back, and harum scarum football all year. Only problem is that we’ll miss them in the Championship.
