Fluorescent tubes are being phased out at the end of the year. As I can no longer get the long life tubes and due to the poor quality of the tubes that are left I am no longer offering a relamping service. The main reason is I can no longer guarantee their service life.

Converted a stair to LED a couple of weeks ago and found the main earth for the cable supplying the flats was not connected. Customer reports the the Network company will repair / upgrade the supply. She added many thanks for pointing this.🙂

Had a bizarre call last Friday where I explained why I couldn't relamp the stair due to poor tube quality and no astro clock fitted.
Basically he started to plead with me to patch up the stair saying he did not have enough money. Turns out he is a IT consultant. Very odd🤔

After a contractor could not fix the lights the organiser asked if I could fix them. Basically no due to the age of the equipment.
I said look at it this way your lighting is equivalent to an old banger where you can no longer get the parts and repairs are getting more expensive

6 months ago a letting agent gave my survey report to their electrical contractor.🙄Last week a resident asked me to check it out as it was not working.
I had to turn this request down. Last week the same letting agent asked me to survey another stair. 🤔
That will be a No thanks

Converted a stair to LED yesterday where the organiser got a 'professional' contractor to fix the lights 6 months ago. I pointed out that we are at the point of no return trying to keep 45yo lights working with the sub standard tubes that are still available.
Kicking the can....?

Well wholesaler has said they have finally run down their 1500mm-1800mm fluorescent tubes. Eventually they will run down all their stocks and when they do manufacturers will jack up the cost of led replacements.

The tubes that are still available are of low quality so stairs that still have fluorescent light fitting are spending more replacing them. Its a false economy but I get when it comes to the stairs that are left.

An resident (organiser) was telling me their stair has had no lights for the past 8 months. The minute she tried to get it sorted another resident has jumped in. She is bemused but as I explained its more common than you think. Don't try to figure it out I said

Starting to get no ifs no buts requests to survey stairs on condition an outside light is installed. Two things here one is compromising stair light wiring to external conditions two stealing electricity from CEC. So no thanks

Found out a stair was paying £270 a year to replace tubes and repair lights. That's £45 per resident. To LED the stair its a one off £150.
This is like paying for your new TV monthly on your credit card.
