@Scienergetic Lol - why do so many take on an extreme approach? I use tech nearly everyday...has nothing to do with the methods aspect. Using varied tech tools does NOT equal strong teaching methods. There has been so much misinformation on this within education.
@macchica26 @Scienergetic Totally understandable - but since when did assigning hw become a crime in high school? I've seen repeatedly that when there are no high standards upheld for the students, there is a serious lack of motivation/poor work habits. What are we encouraging with this approach?
@Scienergetic There are so many good options out there too nowadays with great online components. You can absolutely be creative and engaging while having a textbook as a guide. The anti-textbook approach has done more harm than good, and I see it every single day.
@Scienergetic And furthermore, many anti-textbook folks who use random links/docs to teach random topics each day have no linear focus. Everything is disorganized/disjointed, which is how you end up with students in upper-level language courses who can barely utter a sentence. They are lost.
@Scienergetic 💯. It’s been quite damaging that certain traditional methods were labeled as “archaic” or “ineffective.” In world language, it’s easy to lose your way w/o a solid guideline that a textbook provides. Creativity is important and still achievable w/ some traditional methods too.
