A 13-year study of a dozen cities found that protected bike lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all users of the road. https://t.co/kSOlQs7qsu
My partner is doing a summer co-op at a shipyard that, starting next month, is paying for employee's bus passes. If you walk or cycle, you get the value of the bus pass in cash every month...somehow more progressive than the feds? Gov of Canada, take note!!
Good news! ๐ As of today, when you purchase or lease an eligible zero-emission vehicle, you'll receive a rebate of up to $5,000. As we transition to a cleaner economy, we're making zero-emission vehicles a realistic and affordable option for Canadians. https://t.co/gIoNP6HpLu
Can confirm! Even in a city (Nanaimo) with little/no traffic problems that can make driving so awful, I've missed the joy of biking to work. Excited to get back at it in #yyj this summer!
Bikers & walkers are the happiest commuters - Not exclusive to Copenhagen or Amsterdam; video is Arlington Virginia, USA. I SWITCH for the smile https://t.co/IV8rQe0Kof
Cycling purists should take a look at this! There are many more benefits to cycling than purely physical exercise. Anything that gets more people on bikes is a good thing in my books!
Cyclists between 50 and 83-years-old employing the pedal assist advantages of e-bikes were found to experience increased cognitive and mental health benefits compared to a normal bike. https://t.co/YB5D7tONDI
@PlansDawn I think it's starting to change, but just barely. I know lots of people my age who have bought houses on the outskirts of cities because they could get a large house for the price of something smaller closer to the core.
Good reminder for myself to pick up @modacitylife's book. I see e-bikes as especially important in sprawled, hilly communities like Nanaimo...stay tuned for my future master's thesis on this very topic! #ebikes#mobility#activetransportation
Electromobility for all! E-bikes are absolutely essential to make urban cycling a more broad, inviting, and inclusive activity. https://t.co/6kAUu44eB6 (Via @modacitylife)

Power is out in #woodgrovemall in Nanaimo and it's taking 40 minutes to get out of the parking lot. Wouldn't it be nice if people got to and from places by means that don't cause gridlock?

Not to mention it doesn't address all the other associated problems with the dominance of private car use. Health and obesity, loneliness, sprawl and inefficient land uses....
There are so many things that I don't like about Musk's tunnel idea, I don't even know where to start. Why not use for public transportation? It avoids some pitfalls of freeways (like dividing communities) but it could suffer from induced demand and not make a dent in congestion.
Elon Muskโs super hyper mega tunnel can only transport specially customized Teslas and has a demonstrated top speed of 53 mph. Why is the city of LA giving this half-baked hole the time of day again? https://t.co/0X6sEsInF1
