From 2015 to 2024 - Here is the difference in pay for high school football coaches in the 5 biggest counties in the State:

Dade County - $852
Broward County - $0
Hillsborough County - $448
Orange County - $0
Duval County - $0

An average of only $260.

If we included other sports like basketball, baseball, track, volleyball, etc., it is much less.

These hardworking men and women give up hours of their time away from their families, a majority after an 8 hour day teaching... only to make less than $2 an hour. Does that make sense?

If you want to know why so many coaches have left Florida in the last 10 years, it starts with salary. Then, think about all the added responsibility that has been passed through legislation... mandatory AED/CPR Certifications (that coaches have to pay for), dealing with NIL, etc.

It's easy to say "Do It For The Passion" or "Do It For The Kids" when you aren't having to paint football fields in the 100 degree heat or when you don't have to wait at school until 9 PM because a parent didn't pick their child up from practice (and you haven't seen your own kids all day).

All we have been asking for over the last 3 years is Minimum Wage. That's it. Not a penny more, not a penny less.

… and before anyone says "Teachers Need To Be Paid First!" - Don't they make minimum wage already?
