Senatorial Aspirant Petitions EFCC, Accuses Peter Obi's NDC Party
BREAKING: NDC Senatorial Aspirant Accuses Party's Screening Committee Of Fraudulently Obtaining N20m From Him, Petitions EFCC
An aggrieved senatorial aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing members of the party’s Senatorial Screening Committee of fraud, extortion, and criminal conspiracy involving N20 million.
The petition was received by the Office of the Executive Chairman at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
BREAKING NEWS: The Edo state government has ordered the immediate closure of three secondary schools in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area following intelligence reports of a kidnap threat against students.
My attention has been drawn to the interview granted to Channels TV and NJENJE MEDIA TV by Obunike Ohaegbu, the NDC House of Representatives aspirant for Nnewi North and South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency to the effect that he did not tell me directly that Peter Obi said that he should pay N10m to NDC account for nomination fee. I have been laughing since then. In all honesty, I cannot even say everything this man told me about Peter Obi just to preserve the remaining of Peter Obi’s tattered reputation. Indeed, I asked him a question when we were discussing orally, “are you telling me that Peter Obi is the head of this criminal gang that defrauded you people?” He answered “Peter Obi is the head, stomach, and feet of the criminal gang.” As a matter of fact, he pleaded with me to save our people from the criminality of Peter Obi. I told him to put it in writing. His message was so long that he had to apologise for the length. Please tell me, if a person said that Peter Obi was writing list of aspirants in John Wood Hotel, Abuja, who didn’t win election in NDC, to become candidates for NDC, what else is criminality? He even stated clearly that Peter Obi wrote Senator Victor Umeh’s name as a candidate when he lost. He referred to Peter Obi as my friend in some of his allegations against Peter Obi. I asked him to clarify that “my friend” which he wrote was Peter Obi, and he expressly admitted that.
See the WhatsApp messages where he confirmed he was talking about Peter Obi.
Please see some excerpts as directly stated by Obunike Ohaegbu:
“My brother, The entire NDC project, at least from my personal experience, has left me feeling deceived and profoundly disappointed ... While other states, particularly Kano and several states in the North, appeared to be engaged in negotiations and consultations aimed at achieving consensus, neither I nor, to the best of my knowledge, any aspirant from Anambra State was invited to any meeting for the purpose of negotiating or agreeing a consensus arrangement. Consequently, I mobilised my supporters and participated fully in the primary election process in the belief that the outcome would determine the party’s candidates. This naturally raises a fundamental question. If no consensus meeting was held with the aspirants in Anambra State, and no agreement was reached amongst those seeking nomination, my brother Ken, how did your friend arrive at the list of candidates that he allegedly produced at Johnwood Hotel in Abuja? Consensus, by its very nature, requires consultation, negotiation and agreement amongst stakeholders. Where there is no consultation, no negotiation and no agreement, there can be no consensus. If aspirants were directed to participate in primaries while candidate lists were allegedly being prepared elsewhere, then serious questions arise about the integrity of the entire process. If that is not fraud, then the word fraud must have another meaning ... The list reportedly included individuals who did not emerge from the primary process. Indeed, even Senator Victor Umeh, who reportedly lost his contest, appeared on the list. Yet, as of today, 7 June 2026, the party has still not published the official results of the primaries ... Even more disturbing is the fact that the same statement signed by the National Secretary appeared to shift responsibility for the Anambra situation to PO. I have read the statement several times and remain unable to understand how a political party can conduct primaries, refuse to publish results, claim to have completed appeals, produce a controversial list of candidates, and then seek to place responsibility elsewhere.”
But a home that is built and cannot be bought is only a monument, and on this point, Nigeria has stumbled for decades. So, we turned to the question of money.
Through the MOFI Real Estate Investment Fund, 1,859 families across 25 states have now drawn ₦128 billion in mortgages, fixed at 9.75 per cent and repayable over 20 years, terms our people were told for a generation they would never see.
Through Family Homes Funds, we have kept faith with the poorest, housing widows and low-income earners, under a mandate to reach 500,000 homes and the 1.5 million jobs that rise with them.

God punish you and that your useless high tables. We’re talking about how incompetent your leaders are. We’re talking about the multiplying effects of their badly taken decisions, you are talking about high tables? If you’re a product of mass wedding, do you think you will be here to say this rubbish? You will probably be on the streets holding a bowl across your neck, begging for food and money; or already recruited into any of the terror groups kidnapping and committing all sorts of atrocities.
Do you know the irony? You are more likely to be victims of their crimes than those of us in the north central states. Some of us could have cared less if not that many innocent people in other states are feeling the negative impact of illiteracy, poverty and out of school children in their large numbers through banditry and terrorism.
I commend all our patriotic front-line soldiers in the fight against terrorism in all forms.
You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities.
In the forests, on the roads, at forward operating bases, in the air, creeks, and across difficult terrains, you carry the burden of national protection so that millions of Nigerians can sleep, work, worship, farm, trade, and raise their children in hope.
This fight has not been easy. It has come with pain, pressure, and sacrifice. But your courage has remained firm. Your service is acknowledged. Your sacrifice is honoured. Your country does not take you for granted.
To every officer and soldier of our Armed Forces, to the Police, DSS, Civil Defence, intelligence services, local security formations, and all who work day and night to keep Nigeria safe, I say thank you.
I also acknowledge the families behind the uniform. Many of you have endured long absences, anxious nights, and the emotional cost of duty. Nigeria remembers that sacrifice, too.
We honour those who have paid the supreme price in defence of our country. Their names may not always trend, but their courage lives on in rescued communities, protected families, and the survival of the nation they served.
The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information. When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it.
Nigeria will not surrender to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define who we are as a people. Their violence is not our identity. Their hatred does not represent Nigerians of any faith, creed, or community.
To our troops and all front-line patriots, thank you for your courage. Thank you for your vigilance. Thank you for your service.
May the Almighty protect you as you protect our country.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria
You're blessed.
You found yourself in a country that doesn't punish disinformation and fake news.
You have the audience, you cash out from one fake news story, then cash out even more trying to defend it. 🤣
It's your luck. 😆
