Government of India appoints Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.) as the Chief of Defence Staff, who shall also function as Secretary to Government of India, Department of Military Affairs, with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders.
The present Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, will complete his tenure on 30th May, 2026. Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani is currently Military Adviser, National Security Council Secretariat since 01st Sep 2025. Prior to that, he was the Vice Chief of the Army Staff from 01st Jul 2024 to 31st July 2025 and was General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command from March 2023 till June 2024.
Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan appointed as the next Chief of Naval Staff. He is presently the Western Naval Commander in Mumbai and will take charge on May 31 and his tenure will be up to December 31, 2028.
Vice Admiral Swaminathan was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1987 and is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla; the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham, United Kingdom; the College of Naval Warfare, Karanja; and the United States Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA.
Indian Army has cleared Col Shrikant Purohit for promotion to the rank of Brigadier: Sources
The Armed Forces Tribunal had stayed the retirement of Col Purohit due on March 31, 2026 after hearing his plea for promotion.
Government Sources- "Days before the IRIS Dena incident south of Sri Lanka, India was approached by Iran to take in the Iranian Ship IRIS Lavan, which was also in the region for the International Fleet Review. This request was received on 28 February 2026, indicating that a docking at Kochi was urgent as the vessel had developed technical issues. Approval was accorded for the docking on 1 March. IRIS Lavan has since docked at Kochi on 4 March. In this context, its crew of 183 are currently accommodated at naval facilities in Kochi."

Ministry of Civil Aviation says - "...IndiGo has planned 10 special relief operations from Jeddah to India on 3 March, 2026 to facilitate the return of stranded passengers, subject to required approvals and prevailing airspace conditions. IndiGo is coordinating with the Consulate General of India at Jeddah for passenger facilitation.
Foreign carriers operating between India and the Gulf region are also undertaking limited operations, subject to operational and airspace considerations..."

يُعلن مركز الأمن البحري عن تعرض ناقلة النفط (SKYLIGHT) وتحمل علم جمهورية (بالاو) للاستهداف، على بعد (٥) أميال بحرية شمال ميناء خصب بمحافظة مسندم، وتم إخلاء جميع طاقم الناقلة المكون من (۲۰) شخصا، بينهم (١٥) شخصا يحملون الجنسية الهندية، و(٥) أشخاص من الجنسية الإيرانية.
كما تفيد المعلومات الأولية عن وجود إصابات متفاوتة لأربعة من أفراد طاقم السفينة، تم نقلهم لتلقي العلاج اللازم.
ويؤكد المركز أن عمليات الإنقاذ نفذت بالتنسيق بين مختلف الأجهزة العسكرية والأمنية والمدنية بما يعكس الجاهزية الوطنية للتعامل مع الحوادث البحرية.
