I'll end the night with this.

Missing out on Donnie Freeman isn't good...right now. He was one of the first guys Kentucky identified, was the clear primary front court target (right, wrong, or otherwise), the 'Cats HAD HIM at the closing table...and failed to get the job done.

However, tomorrow is a new day. There are still 24 more hours to enter the portal. Players know Kentucky needs a 4-man and have the Freeman money to spend. It wouldn't shock me at all to see a couple pretty good options enter tomorrow...and those options might even be predisposed to seriously consider Kentucky.

Additionally, there are ALWAYS international options to explore.

Now, admittedly, my confidence isn't super high that it WILL get done, but it is POSSIBLE this all works out for the better still. It is April 20th. There are, at least, still three months of roster-building time to go. I'm not going to REALLY judge the off-season until there a full, completed roster on Kentucky's website. I can be VERY critical today and still have some belief that it CAN work out down the road.

The 'Cats signed two of the best playmakers in the portal. That isn't a bad staring point. There is a LOT of work to be done, and you HAVE to hit right on a couple "value" pieces at this point, but there certainly is more than enough time and opportunity to make it happen...you just have to MAKE IT HAPPEN.
