🚨 Finally it's time to announce!
I'm thrilled to share that I will join @BRInjResearch as an Assistant Professor in January 2025!
Gungor Aydin lab will study auditory processing/learning in neurodevelopment disorders and roles of astrocytes in auditory circuits and behavior!1/2
@jungsukim77@jdpereira@sciliz Reminds me a bit of my daughter’s fascination/obsession with fractals at a young age! Like Northwestern, Duke has cool youth programs and she really loved them as a middle schooler!
@jdpereira Check out Alzheimer’s Association, Bright Focus, and ADDF. Alz Association has grants for “new to field” but I’m not sure if other neurodegenerative disease researchers are eligible. Good luck!
#JNeurosci: Using a mouse model of #Alzheimer’s disease, @ElizabethEckman et al. @BRInjResearch provide evidence that Aβ aggregates building up in synapses are formed locally, within synaptic endosomes, and independently from extracellular plaques.

Our latest publication in #JNeurosci shows that Aβ42 fibrils form in synaptic endosomes before the emergence of extracellular amyloid plaques in a model of #Alzheimer’s disease.

You might have seen a “scientific study” that said chloroquine can cure #COVID19…and then another one that shows that it can’t. Wondering what’s up with this? Are scientists lying to us? Are they just confused? Usually not. It all has to do with how we do science. A thread.
