I am grateful to each and every one of you for your trust in me and your willingness to engage in this messy but essential enterprise of American democracy. Thank you for all of your support! Moving forward, I'll be tweeting from @elizabeth_esty, so follow to stay in touch!
From my family to yours, I wish you peace and happiness during this holiday season! Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating today, and best wishes for a very happy New Year.
Have you ever thought about running for office? America needs your voice and your passion, so consider entering public service and fighting for the causes and the people you care about.
My colleague, civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis, has been fighting for civil rights for 50 years. He did not ask for permission to lead – he forged his own path. Young people today have the same opportunity to make a difference – don't back down from fighting for what is right.
It is both an enormous challenge and a great opportunity for our country to put itself on the forefront of developing alternative energy sources and improving greater energy efficiency. The future is going to require clean energy jobs, and America can be the leader of the future.

The American people are coming together to call for action to prevent gun violence – and young people are leading the way. You can help change the narrative. If Congress won't take action, it's time to change Congress.
Together, we will continue that fight every single day, from the halls of Congress to the streets of our communities. We will never give up. Too many lives, too many loved ones, are at stake. We will always be #NewtownStrong.
Today marks 6 years since 20 first-graders and six educators were gunned down at #SandyHook Elementary School. December 14, 2012 changed the lives of so many people, not only those of us there in Newtown that day but folks all across America.
It has been an honor to represent Newtown in Congress. I’ve witnessed firsthand the unparalleled resilience, courage, & generosity of our first responders, teachers, families, local officials, & everyone in our community who pulled together in the time of indescribable tragedy.
Congress owes the 30,000 Americans who lose their lives to gun violence each year — and each loved one of the survivors and victims — the courage to move forward on commonsense measures to reduce gun violence.
It’s time to invest in clean energy technologies to combat climate change, revitalize American manufacturing, create good-paying jobs, and protect our children’s future.
With just a few weeks left in the Congressional term, I'm still hard at work in Washington! Stay tuned for one of my last pieces of legislation signed into law – the Women in Aerospace Education Act. https://t.co/wWu82ANtxE
Sometimes you need to see things from a different point of view to understand the problem. Watch our powerful new film, “Point of View” and know the warning signs of gun violence at https://t.co/NCTkUchDfK
I’m excited to see my Helping Veterans Exposed to Burn Pits Act signed into law after a bipartisan push to move one step closer to ensuring those exposed to toxic fumes produced from the burning of waste on military bases get the care they deserve.
Every year, we call on Congress to #HonorWithAction. I will continue to stand with this community to honor those who have lost their lives as a result of gun violence, and push for change. https://t.co/gav2589mrT
By working across the aisle, I've been able to pass legislation that helps our veterans receive the benefits they deserve. The Job TOOLS for Veterans Act would expand access to career guidance and higher education opportunities for veterans and spouses.
