Hello #elearning twitter! I’m in a collaboration course currently as I work on my Master’s degree in instructional design and I’m looking for an interviewee for one of my assignments. If any eLID professional has the free time for a short interview I would greatly appreciate it!
@ksmithLearning The web and the connections it has created has made a huge difference in (most) people’s perspective of the world. AR and VR would be another way to close that gap and create more perspective!
@BrightMegen Absolutely!! It’s so exciting to think about. At any age too!! Something new and different to break up the norm would be engaging and motivate our learners!
@Elissa_C1 I don’t blame her about the heffalumps.
I know, it’s more about the “hands on” aspect and they can’t “discover it themselves”. I teach about the solar system and dinosaurs anyway but some theorists just don’t think it fits with their learning theories. 🤷🏻♀️
#EDU6323 AR and VR are complete game changers in education. Bringing theories to life with hands on interaction would make a huge impact on learning! I mentioned this in edu6333 but in certain prek curriculums it is frowned upon to teach about dinosaurs or the solar system
#edu6323 Being that they are not something a learner can be hands on with and completely engage in. Imagine using AR or VR for students to explore the solar system, to "touch" it and be surrounded by it through technology. Students would be able to explore a more concrete concept
#edu6323 A pre-poll can be very motivating for students. According to Miller creating student autonomy is key in shaping the intrinsic appeal of the course. By giving students a voice in a pre-poll for an online course or f2f course, they are sharing what they know and a voice.
@Elissa_C1 I love having digital textbooks to search and highlight on the kindle app. In regards to affordability and access to certain sections, it seems with a recent merger between textbook companies, prices may not be getting any better https://t.co/21NCLzSJJT
@Melissa68445526 In regards to tech becoming a whole body experience, I immediately thought of VR and it's use in education. You can't touch anything physically but you can manipulate the images around you and be immersed in a reality that may not be accessible. https://t.co/qRZwSz0EX3
@ksmithLearning #edu6323 I agree! I think screencasting is an inexpensive way to incorporate technology into education. I think as long as we keep in mind multimedia principles and the redundancy effect, it can be used successfully in our learning experiences.
#edu6323 As I was listening to a podcast today I couldn't help but thinking about our class and wondered about assigning students to create their own podcast. Podcasts have a range of topics and can really be about whatever strikes your interest.
#edu6323 I immediately think about how motivated students would be if they were able to create something that had to do with their own interests related back to their education. I found two links regarding the topic: https://t.co/UF9FokHG6C
