@julclassaccount I feel in the long run, social media may end up dying out or not be used the same way it is today. I think if it truly begins to negatively impact daily lives users will delete the app/profile. Comm will return to how it was a decade ago before the rapid spread of social media

@ColeKaufman4 I think that many people are creating a view of how they want others to see them, not how they truly are in person, which can be misleading while also beneficial to the user because both parties are getting to experience some intimacy/human connection

I agree that the media plays a large role in influencing teens style, body image, and overall personality. During your teen years you are most influenced by what others around you are doing. Following accounts that display what you want to be can be damaging to many teens

I love this visual representation of social media addiction. In a many ways to teens, social media and the internet is their cigarette. In the past, teens would smoke to socialize and fit in. Now, teens create a false persona online to socialize and fit in.

I agree that younger generations feel more comfortable sharing private information through the internet. Even though they are taught not to, most teens feel like only who follows them can see their private information.

I would add that people who catfish other users are also taking part in online harassment. In this situation, the person whose images are being used and the user falling for the catfish are both a victim of harassment.

I feel as though celebrities and influencers have become more inclined to turn their comments off or limit them when posting about subjects that are deeply personal b/c they do not want the hate comments or the trolls attacking them.

I agree that trolling has become a major problem in online communities, specifically Instagram. Users feel it is easier to comment on a post negatively when they are hiding behind a screen.

A common form of online harassment is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be a range of different actions such as degrading someone's image or persona online through comments. Yet, cyberbullying can also happen directly between two people instead of being broadcasted #RUDCIM_SP20

I used to love Club Penguin as a kid! I feel this a great example of a social virtual world. I feel the best aspect of the game are the different games individuals can play and the interactions the games allow with others.

I also used to play Webkinz as a kid! I think Webkinz is a great example of a social virtual world. This game allows individuals to have several different real world experiences, such as decorating a house or dressing up the Webkinz characters.

While I am not apart of a social virtual world. One example of this type of world would be Fortnite. While I have never personally played this game, I know that players can customize their avatars and 100 users compete against one another simultaneously. #RUDCIM_SP20

@KevinWo60987905 Kevin, I agree that Quora is a perfect example of a counterpublic because although users can portray their personal image they are not fully disclosing personal information of the platform

@croft_armani Armani, I have never thought of Instagram as a counterpublic however if a person is maintaining their anonymity and not sharing thier preonsl identity on the platform then I could see how Instagram could be viewed in this way.

@ColeKaufman4 Cole, I also used Tumblr as my example for a counter public. I feel as though this platform allows users to keep their anonymity while having online transactions ane forming relationships with other users.

An example of a counter public would be Tumblr. While many people do not still use Tumblr, it allows users to create usernames that do not reveal their true identity and users are able to communicate in smaller groups while simultaneously attracting an audience. #RUDCIM_SP20
