One of the highlights of my recent US tour was getting to meet Nykoda - 9 years old, self-taught & a glorious human being. I had seen some of his videos online & started plotting with his mum to get him to @BoardwalkHall as a surprise. Then he sat down and played Widor 😍 this was honestly so moving & inspiring. I can’t wait to see what he does in the future ❤️
Come to Bristol in June and be part of the conversation around my recent book! Look at this cracking line-up of speakers - more to be added soon, I hope.

Today sees the release of ‘Let There Be Light’ - a documentary exploring the pattern of harmful behaviours experienced under the leadership of Mike Pilavachi, a prominent figure in the UK Church. Our hope is for this film to be something of a care-package for the hurting, at the same time asking how we might become a healthier Church in the future. We know it won’t serve everyone, but we pray it will help some.
We tell our story to shine light and help validate other’s experiences. It would have been much easier to say nothing - but a culture of silence up until now has been a significant force. Other voices speaking into this documentary are Dr Diane Langberg (recognised for her 50 years of clinical work with trauma victims), Dr Chi-Chi Obuaya (a respected London Harley Street consultant psychiatrist) and Dr Amy Orr-Ewing (a regarded UK theologian with a passion to advocate for survivors of abuse.) The film also points to some key organisations who provide support in this area and also safeguarding resources for churches.
While speaking on a painful subject it’s also important to acknowledge all of the pastors out there faithfully loving those that God has entrusted to them.
This is a story Beth and I chose to tell. Our prayer is for the healing of yesterday’s wounds and a brighter, safer Church tomorrow.
Let there be Light.

God of faithfulness,
Who can be trusted
In every circumstance of our lives:
May we be blessed
To know those
Who can be called upon,
And who will answer,
When life throws
A curve ball,
And we need
A hand to steady us
And hold us up,
And, in turn
To do that
For others
In his book "How to Exasperate Your Wife", Doug Wilson wrote:
Question: “I am beset by sexual temptations. Does God have a solution for me?”
Answer: Yes. The love of a good woman who is willing to make love to you for the rest of your life.
I fixed it for you.
They think this makes him look good? He laughs at something that isn't funny, he doesn't listen to the woman's concerns about wait times, which are not the same as waiting lists and then doesn't answer her question on the A&E. If this is good...
Trauma survivors often need as much information about whats going on around them as possible. This may seem intense to others, but when you’ve lived with so much uncertainty around areas that were out of our control, having facts about areas you can control helps you feel safe.
Why hope?
In a world which seems to be spirally more rapidly into chaos with every passing year, what grounds can there possibly be for hope? Can we avoid lapsing into sheer pessimism without falling into the traps of blithe denialism or saccharine platitudes?

We went for a WW1 vibe for our inevitable #SevenBins & #meattax song for @RishiSunak, on his pathetic delays to green measures & "wishful thinking".
