Closing arguments begin in a few minutes in the case of Marshawn Giles, the man already found guilty of killing a 20 month old baby girl and assaulting her mother. Phase two of the trial is for the jury to decide if Giles did the crime under mental defect, the insanity plea.
Verdict: 12 jurors vote NO. Giles did not have a mental defect at the time of the crime. It’s unanimous. He is guilty and not insane.
That means he faces life in prison.
