That was initially what I was advised by people with much more political experience than me, but the reality is I spend more time in the new 8th than I do in the 1st. I go to grad school in the 8th, my kids went to school in the 8th and I live part time in old town Alexandria! I want to ensure that rural communities are represented as much as nova which is why I filed for the 8th.

I am deeply saddened to hear that two Army ROTC cadets were injured in a shooting this morning at Old Dominion University here in Virginia. I am praying for a quick recovery, for the family of the shooter who lost their life, and for everyone affected.

It was not long ago that I was an ROTC cadet, and our family’s babysitter and campaign intern just graduated from ODU this winter.

Gun violence is rampant in our communities and schools.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough - policy change now.
