Officers arrested three suspects after gunfire struck multiple homes and a vehicle in a residential neighborhood. The arrests were made with the help of our Drone as a First Responder (DFR) program.
On Sunday, May 24, just after 6 p.m., we received calls reporting gunshots coming from the area of the 9800 block of Kent Street.
We immediately launched our Drone as a First Responder
(DFR). Real-time drone video helped identify three people shooting firearms at targets on private property – without permission - east of the railroad tracks in the direction of a residential neighborhood.
DFR advised officers the suspects left the scene in two
separate vehicles traveling northbound on Waterman Road. Within minutes, officers located the suspect vehicles near Bond Road, arrested all three suspects and seized six firearms.
During the investigation, officers discovered 4 homes and
one vehicle on the 9800 block of Falcon Meadow had been struck by gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The three suspects were booked into Sacramento County Main
Jail and charged with shooting into inhabited dwelling and negligent discharge of a firearm.
Traffic Advisory: Elk Grove Florin Road is closed in both directions between Calvine Road and Heritage Hill Drive due to a fatal two-vehicle collision.
Elk Grove Florin will be closed for several hours as we continue the investigation. Please use alternate routes.
Earlier this afternoon, one of our motor officers was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
We are happy to report that the officer is okay; however, he was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for his injuries. No one else was injured.
The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. in front of Kerr Middle School on Elk Grove Boulevard.
Elk Grove Boulevard has since reopened.
