This weekend, Polish border guards detained 14 illegal migrants and their facilitators who were trying to enter Poland from the Lithuanian side. The detained individuals are citizens of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They were attempting to illegally enter the EU through Belarus.

Our responses to Russia’s prolongation of the war and its attacks on our cities and communities are entirely justified. This time, Ukrainian long-range sanctions reached the Moscow region, and we are clearly telling the Russians: their state must end its war. Ukrainian drone and missile manufacturers continue their work. I am grateful to the Security Service of Ukraine and all the Defense Forces of Ukraine for their precision. The distance from Ukraine’s state border is over 500 km. The concentration of Russian air defense in the Moscow region is the highest. But we are overcoming it. Glory to Ukraine!

Reuters has published an in-depth article titled “Ukrainian defence tech revolution has US and Europeans envious.” The article describes Ukraine’s transformation from a “victim of aggression” into a strategic provider of defense solutions for the entire Western bloc. Ukraine has not only learned how to fight, but has also surpassed its allies in many technological areas.

“Ukraine's “Delta” command and control system was now able to “integrate every single drone, every sensor and every shooting platform into just one single network” – something the U.S. Army was still trying to achieve.”

“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said he was sending U.S. military personnel ⁠to Ukraine to 'ensure we are learning every possible lesson from a conflict and incorporating it in real time into how we defend and how we go on offense in an era where drone dominance is required.'”

In other words, the Americans are officially and publicly stating that they are coming to Ukraine to learn. This is the same Hegseth who, a few months ago, called support for Ukraine “a problem inherited from Biden.” I wonder, have the Americans thanked Zelenskyy for this support? If not — they should. Because I think they don’t have the cards.

“According to the Financial Times and CBS, U.S. and Ukrainian officials are now moving towards a memorandum of understanding that would allow Ukrainian drones to be tested – and potentially also built under licence – in the United States.”

Another important detail: Reuters notes that Germany has replaced the U.S. as Ukraine’s main ally:

“Germany has now replaced the U.S. as Ukraine’s principal backer when it comes to military aid. It expects to supply 100,000 artillery shells this year, PAC-3 air defence missiles from next year, and a host of other support efforts including cooperation on new long-range attack drones capable of reaching deep into Russia.”

“'We are strategic partners,' Pistorius said on Monday. 'On the one ⁠hand, we continue to support you in your defensive struggle, but on the other we are increasingly building a structured, long-term partnership to be reckoned with.'”

100,000 shells this year. PAC-3 starting next year. Joint production of long-range drones. And official recognition of Ukraine as a strategic partner.

Separately, Reuters describes the context and figures:

“In April, 1,300 delegates from more than 30 countries attended Kyiv's Defence Tech week, which ended with a three-day “hackathon” working on a range of real technical and tactical problems.”

“Officials in Kyiv say Russia launched some 19,000 long-range Shahed drones over the winter, but that, by the end of March, Ukraine was downing almost 90%.”

“The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that, in April, Ukraine had taken back more territory than it lost.”

“In the first three months of this year, Ukrainian officials say Russia suffered some 26,000 casualties – more than the Kremlin was able to recruit over the same period.”

Reuters’ conclusion:

“Ukraine’s defence partners are no longer coming to Kyiv just to see how they can help: increasingly, they are there to learn and arm for much wider confrontations, and a new kind of war.”

Ukraine’s strategic position has changed dramatically. In 2022, we asked for weapons, and we were given helmets. In 2026, people are coming to us to learn. This is a historic transition that must be properly capitalized on.
