God has welcomed @repjohnlewis home. Defender of justice. Champion of right. Our conscience, he was a griot of this modern age, one who saw its hatred but fought ever towards the light. And never once did he begrudge sharing its beauty. I loved him & will miss him. #JohnLewis
My oldest daughter was 2 when I was diagnosed with ALS and given six months to live. One of the goals I set then was to be strong enough to hold her hand on the beach when she was 5.
She turned 5 this week. And today I held her hand on the beach.
the u.s. virus response feels so much like our response to gun violence. seems easy to prevent! others have! but it's not 'who we are.' a certain idea of freedom makes it impossible. so we move on and just learn to accept a level of human loss that other countries won't tolerate.

The details of how this protective equipment is being distributed should not be kept secret.
I'm demanding answers from the medical supply companies who are working with Jared Kushner on his secretive Project Airbridge.

Nonmedical hospital workers are putting their lives on the line, but often have access to less protective gear than their coworkers. It's not enough to thank them—all essential workers should have the PPE they need to stay safe. #StandWithEssentialWorkers

Relief for student loan borrowers shouldn’t be left up to technicalities.
We must cancel student loan debt—so people get the real relief they need during this crisis and beyond.

This pandemic has exposed the disparities that rural communities—especially rural communities of color—have to deal with every single day.
In the richest country in the world, everyone deserves high-quality health care—no matter where they live.

The Trump administration is privately projecting a steady rise in coronavirus deaths—while publicly encouraging states to open back up.
This is shameful, even by their standards.

Dangerous living conditions.
Inadequate medical care.
This humanitarian crisis along our border didn't have to happen—it was created by Trump's xenophobic actions. A powerful piece reminding us we can't turn a blind eye.

Amber Isaac’s tragic story is all too common for Black women and my heart aches for her family.
This isn’t about education or socioeconomics. There is implicit bias in our health care system. My Maternal CARE Act would help solve this epidemic.

The @IHME_UW model got 60k deaths wrong. It then revised to 72k deaths. That’s also wrong. Their third revision is also likely wrong. Model assumes virus goes away in August. Zero evidence supports that assumption. We need accurate models, not wishful thinking.
In my estimation something the president gets wrong is the public’s tolerance for bad news. Bad news served up straight. Hope and plans are good but only when they are rooted in reality. 60k was another version of “gone by April” or “15 going to zero.” 8/
