A Statement of Conscience on October 7
I will not start by saying ‘as a Muslim’ or ‘as an imam’, but as a human being.
On October 7, over 1,200 innocent people were killed in a single day. Families were shot in their homes. Young people out dancing were hunted across open fields. Over 250 people, including children and the elderly, were dragged into Gaza as hostages. I think of a mother hiding in a safe room with her baby’s mouth covered. I think of a father listening as the line went quiet. I think of families who waited month after month for someone to come home, only to receive a coffin. I didn’t need my faith to recognize the evil of what happened. My heart told me first.
But I’m a Muslim and an imam, and I owe the world one honest sentence: what was done that day was a crime against God. God teaches that whoever kills one innocent soul, it is as if he had killed all humanity.
This day has an author: Yahya Sinwar. He planned it, ordered it, and knew what would follow. Every death of that day and war he started rests on him and Hamas leaders who sat in tunnels and foreign hotels and called slaughter a victory. It rests on every Palestinian leader who cheered, excused, handed out sweets, or said nothing. They chose this. They own it.
But Sinwar did not invent himself. He was the fruit of a tree planted almost a century ago by the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas named itself in its founding charter as the Brotherhood’s branch in Palestine. The Brotherhood’s poison is slow. It arrives through study circles, youth camps, charity boxes, and kind words to lonely young men. Drop by drop, it teaches him that his religion is a political party, his neighbour is his enemy, the Jew is the cause of his sorrow, and God is pleased by rage. By the time the gun arrives, the soul is already taken.
I have seen this poison in mosques where sermons became rallies and young men could recite slogans but not sit still for a verse on mercy. Every people that let the Brotherhood in has paid in blood and ruined generations. It has never built anything it did not first set on fire.
Behind Hamas stands another hand: the IRGC. It was the IRGC’s money, weapons, and training that turned a hateful idea into an army. One calls itself Sunni and the other Shia, and they may curse each other’s creeds, but they are united in what they worship. It is not God. It is power. The same IRGC that armed the killers of October 7 shoots Iranian girls for showing their hair, hangs young men for asking to be free, and has left graves from Tehran to Damascus to Beirut. They speak in God’s name. So did Pharaoh speak in the name of heaven.
So let me say this clearly. Hamas and the IRGC are not merely enemies of Islam. That would be too small a charge, as if their crime were only against us. They are enemies of God. God is the Giver of life, yet they deal in death. God calls Himself the Most Merciful, yet they have made cruelty a sacrament. God honoured the children of Adam, yet they look at a child and see a target or a shield. To murder what God created and sign His name to it is the oldest blasphemy.
And we Muslims have been too quiet. Some of us were afraid. Some told ourselves it was not our business. Some, God forgive them, felt something other than horror that morning and never confessed it. Silence was the soil this poison grew in. I will not add to it.
So on this anniversary, let us say plainly what our scripture already says. The Jews are not our enemies. They are our cousins in Abraham, and their dead were created by the same God who created us. Today belongs to them: the murdered, the hostages, and families who still set a place at the table. To them I say: I am sorry for what was done to you by men who used the words of my prayers. You’re not alone in your grief or remembrance.
The enemies of God are those who murder in His name. We know their names. It is time we said them from our own pulpits, in our own voices, before they speak for us again.

@VanityFair This kind of nonsense might have fooled your readers in 2020 but we’ve moved on since then. J.K. Rowling is a hero to women’s rights campaigners everywhere - and that will include plenty of readers of Vanity Fair.
Britain is a Christian country, yet this image is a sad reminder that if we do not conserve our own faith and traditions, nobody else will.
For the Archbishop of Canterbury to honour on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a cleric who praised Bin Laden is a significant lapse.
I’m pleased that Conservative shadow cabinet members @NJ_Timothy@Rebecca_SPaul discovered some of this information and called this out publicly, forcing the church to change its position. Yes, the church might have been ignorant of some facts, but the presence of a woman with a full face veil, covered head to toe, in an outfit widely known as a visible symbol of female oppression should have given pause for thought.
Our Culture and Integration Commission was set up to end this sort of naive belief that all cultures are equal. No other party in British politics is doing this work to protect our culture.
@ScottishCA My grandson currently boibg taught about WW2.Apparantly Russia had a minor trifling role and barely gets a mention,Commonwealth soldiers however won the war for us singlehandedly. 🤣
Long rant that will be interesting to almost no one but I’m really frustrated
I tried hiring someone to do decorating work for me
He has started the work and he’s efficient, reputable and highly recommended by locals… but Lloyds Bank nonetheless flagged my first payment to him as potential fraud
Fair enough.
Rang them up, and not for the first time with them, I found myself inside mirror world where I have to convince the bank to let me spend my own money
And I don’t mean we just have a bit of a chat and they say “oh that seems legit, alright”. I mean they ask endless questions and make you explain all the work you’re having done, why it costs what it does, and why you’re doing it too. As though they are your Mum and the money you have is just your allowance. Last time this happened AI decided my fate after I’d shown the man operating it a lot of documents. This time it was a real life human who got to make the call.
And yet I could not convince her to let me spend my money. She got me to tell her the endless details of the invoice, list all the jobs I was hiring him for, explain how I knew him, how I’d heard of him etc etc etc for about half an hour and then it was still a computer says no situation
I have to go into a branch and the fraud lady said I should take photos of previous work this man has done. So me and the bank manager are going to have fun looking at flooring and wallpaper I guess.
Then he can tell me if I’m allowed to pay this man for his work or not. Which is awful because how will I pay him now if they won’t let me?!
And if the concern is that he is a scam, then how is *me* rocking up at a bank with photos a solution anyway?
It is SUCH bullshit I swear. I have never been cost them money by fraud, or bought anything exciting enough to be suspicious. Yet here we are.
They’ve also now frozen my account until I visit but will kindly 🙄 lift the freeze to pay vital bills if I ring them each time
The nearest bank is half an hour away which sounds minor but with chronic illness, and an unwell mum I’m looking after at home, it actually isn’t to me
Surely the whole conversation should have simply gone…
Bank: we are worried it might be a scam
Me: it’s not and these are the reasons I’m sure it’s sound
Bank: well we are concerned and if you go ahead anyway and are scammed we won’t pay you back for it
Me: ok, I’d still like to go ahead. Thank you
End of discussion
After all they’d already made it clear they wouldn’t be liable for paying me back with this transaction. So why then do they care
They said “we want to protect our customers” and I said “this doesn’t feel protective. It feels like control”
If I want to spend my money on seventeen clown cars and a kazoo from the least reputable company in the world, they really ought to let me
I don’t see this as just the story of me trying to renovate something…which is, after all, a small story…
I see it as the story of how we are now treated, and how tightly controlled we are.
Your money, in your bank, is now yours only on a whim.
That will only get worse over time. And the more hoops it is acceptable to make us jump through, the more hoops they will feel entitled to make everyone jump through
In 2067 we will be justifying our flake 99’s at this rate
Let me just go shake my fist at a cloud. Nothing is like it was back in my day.
The lady was the perfect voice of bureaucracy, to a degree that really upset me because normally you can just talk to people.
One of her colleagues was so kind. He just couldn’t fix it because it had already been decided
Had to send a message to the decorator to explain the delay and he’s now continuing work on sheer trust. Which I don’t think he should have to do
A young person I support is 18, still in the care system and living in his own flat. He is doing incredibly well.
He’s settled. He’s making friends. His college is literally next door. He’s building a life, finding stability and, most importantly, his mental health is good. He’s getting his life back on track.
And now the local authority wants to move him miles away — apparently to save a few pounds.
This is what is so fundamentally wrong with our care system.
We talk about stability, relationships, education and positive outcomes, but when a young person finally finds all of those things, we put a price on them.
What they seem to be forgetting is that moving this young man could cost far more than money. It could cost him his friendships, his education, his stability, his confidence and the progress he has fought so hard to make.
You cannot keep moving young people around to save money and then act surprised when the consequences come back through your services.
This isn't a flat. It's his home.
This isn't just a placement. It's his stability.
And this isn't just a budget decision. It's a decision about a young person's future.
We need to stop treating care-experienced young people like numbers on a spreadsheet and start asking the most important question.....
What will give this young person the best chance of a successful life?
People in the West are constantly told how evil Vladimir Putin is.
But then everytime i hear him speak, he comes across as more sensible, articulate, measured and intellectually grounded than most western leaders....
Put away the hatred and the shit the press and government feed us...just listen.
You don't have to agree...but at least listen.
Then tell me what he says that's not true.
I hold no brief for Russia or Putin.
But I'm also not stupid or a warmonger.
“They beat and beat” — Niclas Rislund
Original
With blood running from the wounds in her head, Linda, 18, watched four or five foreign men drag her friend Jenny, the same age, away. Both girls were beaten savagely before Jenny was raped.
“They hit me in the head with a baton. I was sure they meant to kill me,” Linda told Expressen.
On New Year’s Eve they were on their way to a party. At the tram stop at Friskväderstorget in Gothenburg they met the men, who said they were going the same way.
“They seemed completely normal then, so we went with them,” Jenny said.
They turned onto a path through woods. Suddenly the men changed.
“They pulled us in different directions. Someone pulled out a spring baton. They hit me in the head… on the body… When I screamed they hit even more,” Linda said.
Jenny was beaten to the ground. She took blows and kicks to the face until she lost consciousness.
“I came round and realised they were tearing my trousers off. I screamed and got another blow and passed out. The next time I woke… they were raping me.”
Linda was fighting for her life.
“I thought I wouldn’t survive another blow to the head, so I lay completely still, barely breathing.”
When the men left her and went to the others — who were raping Jenny — she got away.
“I panicked. I ran with both hands on my head, because so much blood was running.”
She flagged down a driver, who called an ambulance. After the rape Jenny came to and, despite her injuries, reached a housing area, where she met an elderly couple.
They wanted to speak so other women would have the courage to report. Linda also wanted the pictures taken of her after the attack published in Expressen, to show how brutal violence against women can be. That week they also appeared on TV3’s Efterlyst.
“Of course we hope someone will come forward so these men can be caught. As long as they are free I will always be afraid,” Linda said.
Court aftermath, January 2006 (Gothenburg District Court): the most active attacker was sentenced to two years in closed youth custody; two others got a few months for robbery; a fourth was acquitted. Jenny said the sentences were too low — one wrong blow with the baton and it would have been murder.
Later, the main man as an adult
About a year after the appeal he changed his name. In 2010–11, as a 23/24-year-old, he was convicted of breaking into an 84-year-old woman’s flat in Falun, raping her, stealing jewellery, threatening to kill her. Expressen named him Lamin Abdikarim Ali. Sentence: nine years. Jenny said she was not surprised.
Cracking stuff from the Proclaimers! Thank you!
“I’m not transphobic. I’m not against a man identifying as a woman, dressing as a woman. I’m not against any of that. All I’m against is saying that he actually is a woman when he’s not a woman. A lot of these folk are basically truth-phobic."

I’m going to say something that apparently you’re not supposed to say anymore.
I don’t believe Vladimir Putin is the biggest threat to Britain.
I believe the biggest threat to Britain is a political establishment that seems increasingly determined to convince us that Russia is the enemy while refusing to explain why British taxpayers are expected to carry the consequences of a war that isn’t ours.
I believe Putin saw what was happening around Russia, the expansion of NATO, the situation in Ukraine and the continued pressure being placed on Russia, and ultimately decided that military action was his only remaining option.
You don’t have to agree with me. But I’m entitled to question the narrative we’re constantly being fed.
We’re told Putin is the great threat.
Yet our Government has committed £25 BILLION to Ukraine, including £16 billion in military support. More than 237,000 Ukrainians have arrived in the UK under the Ukraine schemes.
And now we’re being told that supporting Ukraine is somehow essential to British security.
Really?
Why is Britain continually pouring billions into this war?
Why are British taxpayers expected to fund Ukraine when our own NHS is struggling, our public services are under pressure and ordinary British families are being squeezed from every direction?
Why are our politicians so determined to cosy up to Zelensky while treating anyone who questions the policy as some sort of Putin sympathiser?
And perhaps most importantly…
Where is the plan to actually end this war?
I don’t see Putin as the cartoon villain our politicians and media constantly portray him as.
I don’t believe he is some evil dictator sitting around plotting how to destroy Britain.
And as for Zelensky?
I certainly don’t see him as some untouchable hero above criticism.
To me, he’s nothing more than a coke sniffing little bitch who has somehow managed to convince Western politicians to keep the money and weapons flowing.
What I see is a British Government seemingly willing to spend billions of our money on a foreign war while ordinary British people are repeatedly told that difficult choices have to be made at home.
Our politicians are supposed to put Britain first.
Not Ukraine first.
Not Russia first.
Britain first.
So forgive me if I question the narrative.
Forgive me if I ask where our money is going.
Forgive me if I question why our Government appears to have endless money for foreign conflicts while repeatedly telling British people there simply isn’t enough money for them.
And forgive me if I refuse to accept that questioning the official narrative automatically makes someone a Putin supporter.
I don’t need to be told who I’m supposed to regard as the villain.
I’ll make my own judgement.
Because questioning the Government isn’t treason.
It’s called holding our own Government to account.
I see that Stella Creasy is accusing me of leading a pitchfork mob against her, because I opined that she is less likeable and more hypocritical than the wild parakeet she mistook for an escaped pet.
For those who don’t know, Creasy is an elected politician and self-proclaimed ‘old-fashioned feminist’ who is ‘still fighting the patriarchy’. She’s more than once publicly defined herself against me (and my reaction was not to accuse her of leading a mob, even though I was probably averaging a dozen death threats a day at the point when the article below appeared.)
I thought it might be instructive for those of us who don’t share Creasy’s brand of ‘feminism’ to examine her campaigning record, so we can learn to do better.
Creasy wants women admitted to the male-only, exclusive, London-based private members Garrick Club, a change that would benefit rather privileged women like Creasy. Creasy is a mother who wants better accommodations for working mothers, a change that would benefit Creasy. Creasy takes selfies at a men-only Muslim march because that reminds everyone how non-racist she is, which benefits Creasy. Creasy asserts that ‘trans women are women’, which keeps her in good odour with her party’s most aggressive activists, and benefits Creasy.
However, keeping cross-dressing heterosexual men out of nurses’ changing rooms doesn’t benefit Creasy, because Creasy has never had to mop up other people’s piss, blood and vomit at work. Challenging the notion that a male basketball player becomes a girl if he says he is doesn’t benefit Creasy, who has no sporting ambitions. Speaking up against the patriarchy as practised by non-white men doesn’t benefit Creasy, who wants those selfie-opportunities. Criticising an ideological movement that persecutes, harasses and openly threatens women who don’t believe some women have penises wouldn't benefit Creasy, because she's already fully-signed up to self-id, where any man who says he's a woman must be taken at his word.
As the late Gloria Steinem said: ‘“Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere.’
Creasy the patriarchy-challenger is provably more than happy to cosy up to men and misogynist movements when it suits her public profile and career advancement, no matter the harms those men might be causing less privileged women. By Steinem’s definition, what Stella espouses is not feminism, but Creasyism, and I suggest the emblem for this brave new rights movement should be an indignant parakeet with severely ruffled feathers.

To the journalists who turned up at my mother’s house today. To the journalist who went to the community I used to live in. To the media requesting interviews and there have been up to 50 in the last 72 hours.
Let me make this extremely clear.
This is not about you anymore. You are the enemy of this country and its people. Because of your propaganda, many, many people have been hurt, slandered, labelled and put through pain.
WE ARE THE MEDIA NOW.
NO ONE LISTENS TO YOU.
NO ONE BELIEVES YOU.
I will never engage with the mainstream media. I do this for my people, my country, my religion, and more importantly my children. I will never give you the chance to criticise the hard working working class men and women who are part of the Patriot Platform.
As I’ve said before, this is only the beginning. This will only get bigger and bigger. WE WILL HAVE THE BIGGEST VOTING BLOCK IN UK HISTORY!
One thing I can promise every politician reading this, every police officer, every MI5 operative.
The country is behind us. They are not behind the media, or the establishment.
And soon you will see it. We keep our morals, our Christian faith and our integrity at the front of every move we make. No violence. No disorder. No criminal offences. We use our lawyers to speak to senior police officers whenever there are concerns or questions. In the next three years we have the chance to take real control of every city and town in this country.
When that time comes, we are going to wipe the old lot of politicians out. Install trustworthy, integrity driven, British people first kind of politicians.
We already have the power. We just haven’t used it. That’s about to change.
Enjoy the next few years. Because the Patriot Platform and more importantly the people of this country are about to send you a message you will never forget.
We will take our country back.
Not with violence.
Not with intimidation.
Not with threats.
Not with aggression towards police or the public.
With pure love. Courage. And the willingness to get it done. We have the same blood that ran through our grandfathers and grandmothers in the 1940s.
This country is about to take control of itself again. And we will never let it go.
Our women will feel safe again.
Our children will play in the parks.
Our women will walk the dogs at night.
You will walk into your local town and feel safer.
England will be England again.
Scotland will be Scotland again.
Northern Ireland will be Northern Ireland again.
Wales will be Wales again.
They try to use the law against us.
We are going to use the law against them.
Checkmate.
#PatriotPlatform 🏴🇬🇧 #ChristIsKing ✝️
I will make the country a promise tonight.
Any high-ranking public servant facilitating and deliberately enabling the invasion of Britain will be prosecuted by a Restore Britain Government.
They will go to prison.
Hundreds, if not thousands - this is their warning.
This has now gone too far. We have the entire establishment weaponising the British state to import these men. In the thousands and thousands.
Something has to be done, because this just cannot continue.
So back us. Give the threat weight. Put the fear of God into them.
Make them think twice. Force them to change course.
Provide Restore Britain the electoral support to make the threat count.
And when we win, they will go to prison.
Your vote, your backing, your support. It matters, and it can make a difference now. Not in 2029. But now.
Because this can't go on. It just can't.
Use Restore Britain as your voice, your weapon, your threat.
We will not let you down.
That is my promise to the British people.
