Children from Ellesmere Primary School were delighted to sing at the VE Day service at St Mary's Church on Thursday evening. They were thrilled to meet the High Sheriff of Shropshire and watch the beacon being lit. It was a fantastic service and well attended by the community.
Year 4 recently enjoyed a residential trip to Redridge where they learnt how to rock climb, abseil, kayak and even went caving. We were incredibly proud of their behaviour, resilience and attitude to the activities. #enrichment
Fletcher and Morpurgo classes have been studying Gustav Klimt as part of their Victorian Portraits mini mission. They have drawn sketches of their faces and then written words associated with the Victorians over the top, to create a word portrait. #art
We are excited to start up running club again for this term.
Running club is on a Tuesday and Friday every week at lunchtime for all of our children in Years 1 to 6. This is a great way to burn some extra energy, plus work on running technique and pace!
In March, we had the Scholastic book fair in school to promote reading as part of our World Book Day events. The children were able to browse through the wide range of books and find their next exciting read. @Scholastic
Bright and Kemp classes enjoyed a fantastic trip to Ellesmere Fire Station as part of their Great Fire of London mini-mission. They learnt the importance of having fire alarms and what to do if a fire happens, including looking at the fire equipment and trying on the uniforms!
The children were all really excited to have BMX professional Joe Baddeley back in school. He performed a demonstration of his BMX skills and then talked to each class about the new Pump Track being built.

On Wednesday, we celebrated Chinese New Year at Ellesmere with a special themed menu. A huge thank you to our fabulous kitchen team so creating such a delicious lunch! #ChineseNewYear
Last week, Morpurgo and Fletcher classes designed and made landing modules. They had to build a landing module that would safely fall down to the surface of the moon without tipping over or throwing out the astronaut! #STEM
Almond class have been producing musical compositions using the 'Garage Manager' app on their iPads. Composition is one of the main strands in our music curriculum, along with listening and performing.
Fletcher and Morpurgo class have been showing their prior knowledge of Space using sweets! The children chose different sized sweets to represent different aspects of Space including stars, planets, the Sun and anything else they know of. #Space
Our children are lucky to have Isobel and Milo the reading dog join us every week. He loves to hear the children read and the children love to make a fuss of him.
Our choir had a fantastic time singing on the stage at the Winter Festival on Friday evening. The children sang a medley of Christmas songs to get everyone in the festive mood! 🎄

This week, Nursery and Reception children were very excited to have a visit from our local police. They talked to us about their job role and how they help to keep us safe. We learnt that you call 999 in an emergency. The children even had a ride in the police car!
