@shania_hopley It's been lovely having you in the team Shania!
Shame to see you go but you will flourish in your future career nearer to home π Keep in touch xoxo
@drohanlon Love this.... Change the culture! Therapy certainly feels like a get out of bed service some days trying to reduce further deconditioning before our therapeutic input be can begin for the initial reason of admission/referral.
It is far too easy for someone to decide to confine a patient in their hospital bed. The results can be catastrophic for older people.
This needs to be a shared decision, considering the risks, and should need 2 health professionals to sign it off. "Bedrest" is not a thing.
@UHS_Therapy OTs have been piloting single handed care and the results are very impressive in reducing length of stay from 8.9 to 4.2 days for medically optimised patients ππ»βΊοΈ Well done !!!
π₯ Single Handed Care Pilot Trial March 2022 π₯π₯
Results showed acute hospital OTs implementing single handed care could more than halve the hospital wait times for packages of care from 8.9 days to 4.2 days for patients medically fit to leave hospital
