@HoesToHouseWive @Martin2975L @LakotaMan1 Your blanket statement that "Native Americans" have received reparations vs the article you linked stating that some tribes have been successful in getting cash or land, the cash not accounting for 100 yrs of inflation, do not match. Some tribes does not mean all.

@melissamedinavo I agree, though my main addition to culture is the Southern, dirt poor variety. Even though I identify as non-binary, I grew up with and continue to feel the pressure exerted on women. Authentic voices need to be heard even in video games.

@melissamedinavo I'm in school for creative writing now with a goal of getting into video game writing and I'm hoping to be a voice against some of this. Even if you write a character who is stereotypically feminine that's going to look different when written from actual experience.

@jimnance @LakotaMan1 I'm not sure you can tell but, I'm incredibly white. My ancestry is the colonizers I'm talking about, and they did it all over the planet with many indigenous populations. This isn't generations and generations ago, there are people still alive who were in the boarding schools.

@galileeanne @jimnance @LakotaMan1 Because Native Americans overwhelmingly chose to help white colonizers and in return they were lied to, treated like children, and every treaty was disregarded. They were threatened and attacked if they refused to move out of their homes to foreign lands.

When Native Americans tried to leave their reservations or go to other friendly reservations they were forced by the military to go back.

The government literally told the tribes they could not continue as hunters because it made them wild and they needed to become like white men.

@johnparcell @LakotaMan1 They didn't need to, because the tribe already respected them as people and had labels for them. The tribe wasn't trying to kill them, or accuse them of sin for being who they are.

@jimnance @LakotaMan1 Do you really want us to start listing all the times Europeans attacked one another? War is not exclusively white, but the Native Americans attacking each other does not compare to what was done to the indigenous population over and over by colonizers.

@melissamedinavo Dialogue is incredibly difficult! LARP and improv have helped me immensely, and I'm just starting to get formal training in creative writing. It's so exciting.
