President Trump has announced the United States is terminating all trade discussions with Canada effective immediately after Ottawa moved ahead with a Digital Services Tax targeting major technology companies.

In a Truth Social post, Trump called the tax a "direct and blatant attack" on the United States and accused Canada of following the European Union's approach.

He also said the U.S. will inform Canada within the next seven days of the tariff rate it will face when doing business with the United States.

"We are hereby terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately."
