So pleased (and a little nervous!) to announce I have made it through the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Science heats of the 3 Minute Thesis competition and will be presenting next month in the University Final!
Wish me luck! ๐ค๐ซฃ๐ช๐
At the beginning of the month I attended the British Crystallographic Association Spring Meeting. I greatly enjoyed the conference and was able to have some very helpful discussions about the gas cells devices I am making as part of my PhD ๐งช
During the British Crystallographic Association Spring Meeting, I gave my first presentation on my work using Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction and Electron Diffraction Gas Cells and was fortunate enough to win the Early Stage Crystallographer Oral Prize!
โMy parents could barely read or write. Itโs been quite a journey, science allows you to do it.โ
New laureate Omar Yaghi was in the middle of changing flights when we reached him, just after he heard that he had been awarded the 2025 #NobelPrize in Chemistry.
In this interview we speak about his early life as a refugee in Jordan and the overwhelming draw of the beauty of chemistry: โI set out to build beautiful things and solve intellectual problems.โ

I learnt so much at the BCA/CCG Intensive Teaching School forX-ray Structure Analysis at Department of Chemistry Durham University the beginning of this month. Canโt wait to meet up with everyone at conferences in the future.
Really enjoyed running the Spectroscopy in a Suitcase stand at SOTSEF this year! ๐งณ๐ฅผ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฌ Showing children and teachers how to collect IR data ๐
My first conference has finished and Iโd like to thank @RoySocChem and @britcryst for the funding that allowed me to travel to the ECM34 in Padova, I have learnt so much! ๐ฎ๐น
So pleased to receive an award for my poster at the ECM34 - 2024 presented by Cinel Scientific Instruments! ๐ฎ๐น๐ ๐
Well done to @tfa_993 and all the other winners!
Thank you to all the lecturers, organisers, fellow students for making the ElCryS24 such an enjoyable and productive school. ๐ซถ๐ซถโบ๏ธ Particular thanks to the @IUCr the their Young and Early Career Scientist Award!! ๐
So fortunate to attend my first ED school (especially as it has been in the beautiful Italian city of Padova!) I have learnt so much at the ElCryS24! ๐ฉโ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ฌ
