@MinuitVt@PastaRobot43@ethan_bratti I said none of these things. I think you’re wishing for me to take a weak idiot position for you to takedown because you’re uncomfortable with my mild criticism of someone you’re aligned with lol
@astelaan_@ghostapple_ari@Keegan59992745 He said the record had “cases of main character syndrome” which is more serious and more confident than saying some lyrics had “main character energy” Given he alludes to different indulgent “cuts” (i.e. songs), he is speaking very broadly about the album.
@amar_ismanic And note again the “case of main character syndrome” only makes sense as a comment if he believes Halsey believes the world revolves around them which would be reflected by shows of childish angst.
@amar_ismanic He characterizes the angst as “childish” The common use of “childish angst” is if the angst is unjustified and trivial.
The “what about a bitch” line refers to Halsey’s belief that she will die from her illness soon (just like her dog died). This is obviously not childish.
@GrandNuts@matt13classic Like the album != judgement of artistic value.
It is totally unreasonable to call (with the evidence he provided in-video) an angsty album from an artist who states that they made it when they thought they were going to die as indicative of the artist’s “main character syndrome”
@GrandNuts@matt13classic In modern usage being able to read can include being able to interpret words spoken to you. I was also referring to Fatano’s failure to research the album before listening.
@GrandNuts@matt13classic If you think the that’s what my argument implies then you’re delulu. Fantano gave a 1/10 review for the same reason he made the “main character syndrome” comment: he can’t read
@againstvapes The reason she inferring that is that the review is widely panned even by his own community as very poor. And most people who follow his reviews agree he is not consistently professional as a reviewer.
@PastaRobot43@ethan_bratti You can look at his post history. He clearly is aligned with the Fantano side of things. This is just a basic inference. Sorry abstraction troubles you.
@ZShevich 1. Fantano got a significant boost in social proof from Olivia Rodrigo interview
2. His review is considered comically bad even by his own community (misses album premise and personally attacks Halsey).
3. He doubled down on it recently after being silent since the backlash
@evanmgoodrich Because he misinterpreted the album as primarily trying to impersonate other artists he treats the actual meat of the album (the angst) as a cringy distraction
@evanmgoodrich Reading comprehension dude. She doesn’t care that the review was bad in quality. She cares because she believes (correctly) that he attacked her personally in the review (implying her level of angst was inappropriate and reflective of “main character syndrome”)
