🚨 ANIMAL CRUELTY CONVICTION: PAUL DICKEN AKA “PENCIL” – WEDNESBURY, SANDWELL 🚨

On 9 December 2024, a young mastiff‑cross later named Comet was found tethered to a lamppost in The Lunt, #bilston, #wolverhampton during freezing temperatures. He was bleeding, shaking, and wearing a metal prong collar that dug into his neck every time he tried to move.

Members of the public rushed to help him with blankets and food before the RSPCA arrived.

Animal Rescue Officer Baljit Dhamia said he genuinely thought Comet was going to die. Comet had three stab wounds, each reaching 5cm deep, and was so disorientated he could barely stand. Dhamia had to coax him gently, then work fast to get him into a portable kennel and race him 35 minutes to RSPCA Birmingham Animal Hospital.

Comet was anaesthetised so vets could clean the wounds without causing further pain. He was placed on a drip, given antibiotics, and later transferred to the The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home - CDCH, where staff described him as “so trusting” despite everything he had endured.

🔵 WHO DID THIS TO COMET?
In December 2024, locals began naming PAUL DICKEN, known as “Pencil”, then of Ames Road, #wednesbury, as Comet’s owner.

CCTV footage was obtained showing a man strongly resembling Dicken walking a dog matching Comet’s description towards the area where he was later found stabbed and abandoned.

Dicken claimed he had “got rid of” the dog three or four weeks earlier but could provide no details. He also tried to claim Comet was aggressive. Neighbours called this nonsense, saying Comet was kept outdoors 24/7 and was a good‑natured dog.

At the time, the RSPCA appealed for first‑hand information but there was no follow-up and it was widely believed that Dicken had got away with it.

Not so. .

The RSPCA has now confirmed that a man was prosecuted and disqualified from owning animals for life. That man was PAUL DICKEN.

His conviction - date unknown - was never previously made public, meaning the community was left without answers and without closure. It is important – essential – that his name is now formally connected to Comet’s suffering.

💙 COMET’S NEW LIFE
Against all odds, Comet survived and was rehomed very recently..

His new owners say that on his very first night, he curled up beside them and they “knew then he trusted us.”

He cried in the car because he had likely never been inside one before, but eventually rested his head on their lap. He now has his own office chair at home – placed low, with a blanket – where he loves to chill.

Comet is safe, loved, and thriving, but nothing excuses the vile, cowardly actions of his abuser.

What was done to him was cruel, deliberate, and utterly unforgivable.

Naming Paul Dicken now is not only right — it is necessary.

Amante de los perros desde niño, Cicconetti cree que la cárcel y las multas no bastan para cambiar conductas, así que decidió aplicar castigos que reflejen el sufrimiento causado. 👏

Entre sus casos más recordados:
Una mujer que mantenía a su perro en condiciones deplorables fue sentenciada a pasar un día entero en el vertedero, rodeada de olores nauseabundos, para reflexionar sobre lo que había hecho.

Otra mujer que abandonó a 35 gatitos en un bosque helado tuvo que pasar una noche en el mismo entorno, escuchando coyotes y mapaches, además de cumplir cárcel y pagar multa.

El juez asegura que estas experiencias generan conciencia y reducen la reincidencia. Mientras el promedio nacional de reincidentes ronda el 75%, en su tribunal apenas llega al 10%.

Cicconetti insiste en que la educación es clave: propone que quienes maltraten animales deban tomar cursos obligatorios sobre cuidado responsable, igual que los conductores ebrios deben asistir a programas de rehabilitación.

Además, sueña con crear un registro público de abusadores de animales, similar al de delincuentes sexuales, para proteger a las mascotas y ayudar a refugios a verificar adoptantes 👏

Su hermano, Roldán Álvarez Ayala, es militante de Morena desde marzo de 2023, exalcalde de Apatzingán, fue funcionario en los gobiernos de Lázaro Cárdenas Batel y Leonel Godoy, candidato a diputado plurinominal de Morena en 2018 y 2024, y ha sido reportado como consejero estatal del partido.

Florida has enacted one of the strongest animal protection laws in the nation. Convicted animal abusers are now permanently banned from adopting or purchasing any pets in the state.

Governor Ron DeSantis signed Dexter’s Law in May 2025, and it took effect on January 1, 2026. The legislation closes a dangerous loophole that previously allowed people convicted of animal cruelty to own pets again after serving their sentences.

The law is named after Dexter, a rescue dog who was tragically killed by his adopter — a case that exposed critical weaknesses in the system. To prevent future tragedies, the law also establishes a statewide registry of convicted animal abusers. Shelters, breeders, pet stores, and even members of the public can now check this database before placing an animal with a potential owner.

Offenders remain on the registry for up to ten years, giving organizations a powerful new tool to screen adopters and protect vulnerable animals.

🚨 Roaming criminal groups invading farms. Dogs bred to kill. Wildlife ripped apart for cash 🚨

Across the UK, organised criminal gangs — mostly from the travelling community — are staging illegal hare coursing meets that leave farmers terrified and wildlife slaughtered.

These groups smash through gates, intimidate landowners, and unleash dogs to chase, torture and kill hares for gambling prizes of up to £50,000. Police say hare coursing has surged tenfold in recent years, driven by criminals who treat the countryside like their playground.

On Facebook groups like East Midlands Hare Coursing , they share photos of piles of dead hares or dogs posing over carcases and openly brag about “hundreds of kills”

Dogs can be sold for £10,000–£55,000 depending on how many animals they’ve torn apart

These gangs travel from county to county, armed with knives, machetes and even firearms. They blast party music while dogs rip wildlife to pieces. They dump carcasses outside schools and village shops as intimidation.

👉 Children traumatised by piles of dead animals.
👉 Farmers threatened, chased, and confronted by masked men with weapons.
👉 Entire fields invaded by convoys of 4x4s.

One Cambridgeshire farmer watched 70 men pour out of vehicles after criminals cut through iron gates with an angle‑grinder. His terrified seven‑year‑old asked:

“Are these men going to come inside, Daddy?”

Chief Inspector Kevin Lacks‑Kelly says: “These are violent criminals. They abuse people, animals, women. They carry weapons. They are not the people you want in your community.”
