I need Jesus so desperately - He is my treasure, my joy, my love, my only, glorious hope! Love my amazing wife! Minister of Groomsport Parish, Church of Ireland
‘Calm me, O Lord,
as You stilled the storm.
Still me, O Lord,
keep me from harm.
Let all the tumult within me cease.
Enfold me, Lord,
in Your peace.’
Praying for all who are finding this night less than peaceful 🙏🏾
"We ignore our Lord’s clear teaching on this to our peril, and to the peril of the nation that we so long to reach with the love of Christ.
No matter how hard it is, this is non-negotiable: Christ commands us to be one, as we will be manifestly when he comes again in glory"
Thank you to @Christianitymag for posting my article urging that Christ calls us, commands us & prays for us to stay together, one in Him🙏
I am thus concerned that calls for 'structural differentiation' by Alliance & @ceecuk are deeply unbiblical #synod

From the article:
"Scripture tells us in no uncertain terms: “As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’” (1 Corinthians 12:20-21)."

All the children in this picture were killed, along with their parents, by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza today.
We live in a world where sympathy is often selective and conditional.
Great to be with the people of @church87054 this morning to celebrate the Mass and reflect on Ephesians and @BishopSouthwark call to 'consciously honour one another..for we cannot do without one another...we are saved together or we are not saved at all' https://t.co/oIJfDyxjg5
Another baby has died.
Three baby deaths in five years. Yet courts are still sending pregnant women to prison. This cannot go on.
Prison will NEVER be a safe place to be pregnant — we need to end the imprisonment of pregnant women NOW.

"How do we help avoid evangelical civil war
& promote real unity?"
"two things are certain in all of this:
we need Christ & we need each other"
"Let’s stick together & love one another,
so that the UK can be reached in the generations to come"

"If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain."
(Emily Dickinson)
Refreshing quote! More respect, less insults. We must honour ALL our co-heirs with Christ ❤️
"I disagree with my siblings in Christ, and yes, I call them siblings because even though I strongly disagree, I have love and respect for them as people who are co-heirs with Christ."
Agree completely - this is against the biblical commitment to unity that John Stott sought after with such passion.
Please rediscover your roots @ceecuk as this is really going adrift… e.g. from Jesus’ prayer in John 17.
Unity is a matter of obedience to Christ 🙏
Come on #synod, if we say we want to be faithful to Christ, let us listen to Him!
His Word does not advocate structural division within His true Church - there is not a single passage that this kind of division can be based upon. Yet there are many, many earnest pleas for unity.
In our intercessions we prayed for #synod, that God's people would be an answer to Jesus' prayer & move to be 'completely one'. Let this not be another story of tragic fragmentation, under the delusion that it's somehow God's will, even though Jesus so clearly prayed against this
Will God's people listen to Jesus?
Will we become to answer to such an earnest, clear and desperate prayer?
Or will we yet again grieve His heart, as expressed so openly here?
In a matter of days, the Supreme Court criminalized homelessness and granted immunity for those who commit crimes in the White House.
It reminds me of the words of brother Bryan Stevenson: “The system treats you better if you are rich & guilty than if you are poor & innocent.”
The holy Word of God is not upheld or honoured by divided chuch institutions, divisions which are so contrary to its clear & repeated teaching.
To claim that it is is a deep and tragic irony which I pray we will awake from and listen to our Lord’s earnest prayer in John 17 🙏
For my siblings in Christ at #Synod
If we take the Word of God seriously, please remember this solemn command:
"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit..."
Not optional...
Like it or not, we are one forever!
...due to this, any attempt at structural division is profoundly unbiblical, at odds with reality, that we are "one body".
The only way we can divide is if we leave Christ i.e. abandon our faith.
All structural 'division' / 'differentiation' is meaningless in the eyes of God.
