@leonardojo You can just save them as .svg and open in Inkscape/Illustrator. No need to recreate. PowerPoint has a tendency to resize an .svg’s groupings.
#rstats users and #demographers, I'm looking for online resources (blogs, etc.) for a good introduction to using open source data to do demography work (population projections) in the U.S. Can anyone recommend any? Thanks!
@steltenpower @rstats4ds In my mind it should be a relatively easy business venture to print an .html, bind and ship it. Then split the proceeds between author and print service . Like unsigned garage bands who print their own cds - not top quality but it works well enough.
I really appreciate all the new open-source #datascience books being self-published with {bookdown} and other tools. I do wish there was a magic button I could click that would allow me to buy a hard copy directly from the author - no publishers involved. #Rstats
@hrbrmstr One thing that pie/donut charts have over other types is that they’re round and can sometimes fit better on a page than rectangular figures. imo
@ashley_gibby Thanks for sharing your insight! I wonder if you know of any resources/books that provide more details on using the ACS?, especially around workflows.
@skyetetra R/Python can handle file conversions. R packages like {openxlsx} and Rmarkdown (and Python equivalents) make this relatively easy with Microsoft workflows - this applies to STATA, SAS or SPSS too. I think this needs to be a core part of DS training.
Just got my first dose of the #Covid19 vaccine in #Edinburgh. #NHSScotland are doing a great job, very organised! Hopefully this thing is will be over soon, but important to remain vigilant.
