The voucher/k12 ed scholarship/ed savings account expansion is not at all about choice, serving the most vulnerable kids or money following the child; it’s all about money following the wealthy to expand wealth.
This is a good read. 👇
I can understand reasonable arguments about the role government has played throughout this health emergency, but to suggest without reservation that “letting nature take its course” (read: let more people die) is a solution is as insulting as it is astonishing for those we serve.
With more than 460,000 deaths in this country as a result of the pandemic, it is devastating to hear a member of our state’s legislature suggest that more deaths would be acceptable. That efforts to keep our most vulnerable citizens safe was an overreach.
Today, with amendments that would limit the state’s ability to act in response to an emergency, Rep. Jacob suggested that we shouldn’t have shut down businesses, required masks, or limited visitors to healthcare facilities, and instead “let nature take its course.”
Four years ago tonight, Mitch McConnell silenced me on the Senate floor because I tried to read a letter from Coretta Scott King.
He was trying to tell an entire movement to sit down and shut up.

As frustrating as this read is, it’s even more frustrating that voters continue to vote for this decade-long trend.

District 93 folks - many of you raised this issue to me during my run for State Rep. Contact your Rep and Senators and tell them you want this bill to get consideration.
Many constituents have reached out with concerns regarding the installation of 5G towers near their homes without notice. My Senate Bill 225 addresses this issue by amending the current statute and giving residents more notice and more transparency with utility installations.

House Speaker finally willing to go on record in condemning Jacob's unacceptable comments - AFTER he wins the seat. Too little, too late, Speaker Huston. You, and all of your colleagues knew very well who this man was and said nothing when it mattered. https://t.co/jMQ4502eAO
