Just some observations from watching the side-by-side. Not saying this is the reason for the velo dip—just a few mechanical differences that stood out to me.
A few things I noticed:
• When he was throwing his hardest, his move into and out of leg lift was much more downhill. He matched the slope earlier, setting up the rest of the delivery to use gravity and build momentum. Now, he appears much more uphill into the drop phase.
• He also looks to be counter-rotating more out of leg lift before foot strike. Almost winding up instead of simply staying sideways and ripping. The more you counter-rotate, the more your body has to rotate out of it before efficiently delivering force.
• His energy also looks more wrapped around the backside. His COM appears shifted farther back, making him look more stuck on the back leg. Previously, he looked much more centered, stayed underneath himself, and created a smoother forward drift.
• The back leg also appears to carry tension earlier now. You can already see the quad loaded during leg lift, whereas before he looked much freer going up and captured that tension naturally during the drop phase while using the slope.
• Hand break also appears slightly later in the older clips. For some pitchers, a later hand break can be a velo unlock because it allows them to store anchored tension longer down the mound while keeping the body centered, allowing energy to transfer more efficiently into foot strike.
• One smaller thing I noticed is the back ankle and pelvis. In the older clips, the back ankle everts more naturally, allowing the back hip to rotate cleaner into foot strike and the pelvis to turn over more efficiently. Even the drag line looks different, showing a cleaner transfer of energy through the lower half instead of hanging on the backside.
Just some food for thought. Mechanics are always interconnected, and sometimes a few small changes can have a much bigger effect than people realize.
Curious what everyone else is seeing.
The Adidas 3SSB event in Bryan, Texas, will not be open to college coaches on Thursday, July 9, per an e-mail obtained w/ @PeteThamel. An Adidas official sent out a memo saying that day “will no longer be an NCAA-certified live recruiting day” due to a “an oversight on our end.”
Anthony Davis practically begged Rob Pelinka to get him a CENTER alongside him for YEARS… Rob didn’t budge
AD got back doored.. Bron lowkey got back doored.. and NOW he wanna be a competent GM now that the duo that won you a championship is gone.. you can’t make this shit up LOL 🐍
Project NBA Tyson Ep. 2
Tyson sat around 87-88 MPH during the college season.
This summer:
➡️ 91-93 MPH
➡️ T94
➡️ PGCBL Pitcher of the Week
The goal wasn’t chasing velocity.
It was organizing movement.
• Get the COM moving downhill.
• Drop the COM and match the slope.
• Catch and hold tension.
• Stay behind the lead leg.
• Build a stable landing position.
• Rotate INTO foot strike instead of around it.
When the body moves more efficiently, velocity becomes a byproduct.
Stack quality days. Trust the process.
