OCTOBER 7, 2023: SHE KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO DIE.

Libi Cohen-Meguri, a 22-year-old infantry officer, went to the Nova music festival.

She was shot while fleeing the party. At 8:11 a.m., she called her parents and said:

“I’ve been shot in the stomach, I’ve been shot in the arm, I’m losing blood. I’m going to die.”

Calmly, quietly, she understood; these were the last minutes of her life.

She asked her parents to call Tomer, her twin brother, and Maya, her little sister, and said:

“I’m going to die. I just want you to listen to me.

I love you, Yariv. You’re the best father I could have asked for.

Mom, stop screaming. Just listen to me. You are the best mother we could have ever had. Don’t forget to be a good mother to Tomer and Maya after I die.

Tomer, how lucky we were to live this life together. I love you.

My Maya, never forget—you are the treasure of my life.”

When she finished speaking, her parents told her to get out of the car, lie down on the road, and pretend to be dead.

With her last bit of strength, she got out of the car and laid down on the road.

“Mom, they’re coming to shoot me again,” Libi said after lying down.

While her mother listened on the phone, shouts in Arabic could be heard, and then a barrage of gunfire.

It didn’t stop.

It kept going, until the call was disconnected.

And that’s how Libi died—with demonic beasts from the pit of hell standing over her and emptying a full magazine into her body.

Libi died with LOVE on her lips: love for life, love for her family, and love for her people.

Her memory will forever be a blessing.

I have been asked, again and again, why I am backing Reform. This is my answer.

I want my country back.

I want my children to grow up in a land they can be proud of. I want them to walk its streets and feel safe. I want them safe, and I want their children safe after them. I want a country freed from fundamentalist Islamic extremists who despise the life we have built. I want whoever we elect to stand with us, to honour our flag, and to defend our way of life — not apologise for it.

I do not want open prayer blocking our streets. I do not want Free Palestine marches claiming our towns as their stage. I am sorry for anyone persecuted anywhere on this earth, but the world’s wounds are not ours to carry, and they are not ours to heal. We cannot repair every broken place by breaking our own.

I want our borders shut tight. I want every person who has no right to be here sent away — and every foreign criminal sent away with them. I want a free country and a prosperous country, the kind the world once looked to. And before I leave this world, I want to know that my children and my grandchildren will inherit something solid: a nation that is still theirs.

Restore UK says some of the right things in small places. I am old enough, and wise enough, to know they are not the vehicle that can carry this country. I know they have little chance of making ground against Reform. I am hopeful that, when the general election comes, Conservatives and Restore supporters will see what is plain: their parties cannot win. I hope they will vote tactically with Reform, and together we will drive out this traitorous Labour government.

Then we hold Reform to account. We carry our beliefs into the open. And if they do not deliver what I believe we all want, we confine them to the bin of history, and we begin again.

That is all I want. A safe country. A solid country. A country our children can still call home.
