This indie developer made a 2D stop-motion Metroidvania where you fight undead Japanese monsters as a samurai, a spirit and a cat.
Have you played The Spirit of the Samurai?
Thanks so much for all of the support! Our super secret untitled project comes from the mind of @Sarawrawrawr, and Olan Rogers + the Lightfold team are so stoked to help bring it to life!
The Backrooms
A world where nostalgia and novelty attack you in the form of "art." I'm blown away. It reminds me of pseudo-3D games from the 2D era, back in the dawn of RPGs and the Family Computer (NES), before polygons and textures existed. Simulated 3D spaces built from looping, repetitive visuals: digital labyrinths unconstrained by the rules of architecture. I used to draw maps on graph paper just to keep track of where I was. That sense of confinement. That feeling of anxiety. Both are revived here in live action. The art direction is clever, incorporating elements of art, architecture, and psychology. This is a 21st-century liminal-space version of "CUBE," a work of surrealism and cubism in which video games of the 1980s and the modern world connect across dimensions.
Recently, Actor Bruce Campbell Shared In Greater Detail His Incurable Cancer Diagnosis.
“I think I’m doing as well as you can for having cancer. I go through most of my day not thinking I have any cancer. It’s a bit of a whack-a-mole-life that I have to get used to.”
“If you want to get your financial house in order from A-Z, get cancer. If you want to rekindle with friends and family that you haven’t talked to in decades, get cancer. If you want to refocus your life, laser focus on only the things that bring you joy and remove the drudgery of everyday life forever, get cancer.”
We’re all rooting for not only you Bruce but everyone who’s currently fighting what feels like insurmountable battles. One day at a time!

Favorite Part: This house was just plain fun to experience. The audio triggers alone were wild and felt like they perfectly captured the humor and boldness we expected from the series. It was a blast to walk through, especially once we fully understood the world we were stepping into.
Fun Fact: Our first run through this house was… not great. At the time, we had seen the Evil Dead movies and Army of Darkness, but Ash vs Evil Dead was completely new to us. We didn’t know the characters, the references, or what we were looking at half the time. That definitely impacted our Blind Run score.
But here’s where this house became unique for us. During this HHN trip, our hotel room became an Ash vs Evil Dead screening room. We started watching the series during the day at the event, and by the end of the week, we had finished the first two seasons, became an instant fan of the show, and obviously the house then clicked.
We went from not really understanding what we were experiencing on our first run to absolutely loving the house by the end of the trip. It’s a great reminder of how much knowing the source material can change the way you experience an IP house. #ThrowbackThursday #HHN #AshvsEvilDead
