However, such reform must be subject to robust and informed public debate. A public hearing on tax reform is essential, allowing Nigerians from all walks of life to engage meaningfully. This is how we build public trust and ensure inclusivity in policymaking.

Matters of this magnitude require extensive deliberation and careful consideration—they should never be rushed.

Public hearings must be conducted to allow for diverse opinions and inputs.
Such public hearing would also enable the broadest spectrum of public opinion to be reflected in public policy.

When considering tax reforms and similar issues, it is insufficient to focus solely on the benefits to the government, particularly in terms of increasing revenue collection.

We must also take into account the overall impact on the nation and the sustainability of all its regions.

Furthermore, the government must sensitize the people and secure their buy-in for any policy changes.

Trust and legitimacy are the foundation of effective governance, and without them, even the best-intended reforms may fail.

Let us prioritize transparency, deliberation, and public engagement in charting the path forward. This is how we build a truly participatory democracy.

Even if all ur claims about @PeterObi accurate, he does not deserve this level of denigration, given his status. Whether u like him or not, regardless of his perceived qualities, he is a stakeholder in this country. Criticism should focus on government policies, not individuals.

I may have differences with Peter Obi. However, he is not likely to have lied about building a Savannah Bank branch. Google is often right. But it is sometimes not correct.

Savannah Bank could not have been founded in 1989, because I remember visiting the Savannah Bank at the current Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, with my late mother as a child. Her office was close by. I also recall visiting Savannah Bank in Port Harcourt when I visited her brother, who played for the Sharks of Port Harcourt Football Club.

Both visits were after 1983 and before 1986. During the visit to Port Harcourt, my footballer uncle, Mike Okotie, alias Sunny Sparkle, took this photograph. I was between ten and twelve when this photo was taken. I know this because I checked my passports to know when I was in Nigeria and when I was abroad (I keep meticulous records).

If Peter Obi lied, believe me, I would expose him in a way that would make him unable to defend himself. But I will not lie against or endorse lying about a person, even if he is a political opponent, and not speak up to say the truth just because it will benefit a person who sees me as a foe.

I went to Chicago State University on September 19, 2022, intending to prove that then-candidate Bola Tinubu did not attend that school. On the contrary, I got incontrovertible documentary and photographic evidence proving that he did, and though it was against my political interests at the time, I spoke the truth.

Just as I did with then-candidate Bola Tinubu, I am also doing for Peter Obi. I do not know if he actually built their branch. But I do know that Savannah Bank existed before 1989, contrary to what Google said. And Peter Obi, at that time, had the capacity to build their branch.

Irrespective of where we stand on the political divide, let us denounce or praise based on truth, not lies, innuendos, and half-truths.

It is unfair to drape the ongoing hunger protest in Nigeria with ethnic cloth. Inflation and hunger are national phenomena not sectional. Today, Nigeria is not only facing hunger but famine. Garri is not cheaper at Ajah or Bodija market than it is at Dawanau or Baga market.

That the Northerners did not stage protest against Buhari is false. In April 2019, Northerners staged the #MarchforZamfara protests against banditry and kidnappings in some cities.
