By 2026 they want to have over 200+ trucks and expand into Nevada and more states. This will put an estimated 600 truckers out of jobs

Think about that, 600 truckers won’t have jobs just from this small company and expansion, now imagine nationwide

We’re moving from “can they do it?” to “how fast can they scale it?”

I continue to hold a large position in Aurora, and it remains my highest conviction moonshot investment for the next decade.

Really great read from Morningstar’s Seth Goldstein on $AUR today.

The part that stood out:

Autonomous trucking has logged roughly 500,000 miles so far.

Morningstar forecasts that number could reach 80 billion miles annually by 2040.

That’s a 160,000x increase from where we are today.

What makes Aurora interesting is how few serious competitors remain. Over the past several years, many exited the race, went bankrupt, or shifted focus. This is a TOUGH industry to enter. Today, Aurora appears to be one of the very few companies with a credible path to scaling driverless trucking.

Most investors say they wish they had the patience to hold companies like Nvidia through the early years.

Opportunities like that always look uncertain in real time, especially when the stock stays stagnant.

When I look for investments, I look for businesses with a massive TAM, strong technological advantages, and limited competition.

$AUR checks every box.

• US 12,649,476 B2 – Tracking of articulated vehicles. Core IP for accurately estimating the state of semi-trucks + trailers using sensor data and motion models. Essential for safe autonomous trucking.

• US 12,649,490 B2 – Behavioral predictions in reaction to AV movement. Goes beyond standard trajectory forecasting. Uses ML to model how other road users will respond to the autonomous vehicle’s planned actions. This is sophisticated, interactive prediction, exactly what’s needed for safe mixed-traffic operations.

Aurora is not merely expanding its moat through additional patents. What matters most is what these patents actually protect. Far from relying solely on high-definition maps and rigid rule-based systems, these grants, particularly in articulated vehicle tracking and reactive behavioral prediction, show that the platform is built to adapt in real time to unforeseen events and the dynamic responses of other road users. This real-time adaptive decision-making capability in unstructured environments is one of the hardest advantages to replicate in Level 4 autonomy.
