Well well. So Darren Jones says Keir Starmer misspoke in his interview with Nick Ferrari when he said Israel had the right to cut off food water and essential supplies to Gaza. He says it was a mistake by his team not to come out immediately and acknowledge that. And yet one week after the interview, I was on Daily Politics with @darrenpjones and I condemned Starmer for his comments. Jones's response was to claim Starmer had never said that Israel had the right to commit thise acts and I should apologise for saying he had. I wonder if @darrenpjones wants to now apologise for being one of those who failed to stand up to genocidal policies.

Growing up, a hit song crossed demographics whether the genre was your favorite or not. People who don’t primarily listen to country still know Dolly, Shania, Carrie, The Chicks, etc. because they made actual hit records that crossed over. When she finally fought back and he died, Missouri put her on trial — and the court ruled she had no right to defend herself. Celia. 1855.

Missouri law at the time said a woman could use deadly force to defend her honour.

Celia's lawyers argued that law covered her. The judge ruled it did not — because the statute said "any woman," and Celia was not legally a woman. She was property.

That was the finding. Not that she was lying. Not that it had not happened. That the protection did not extend to her, because she was a thing.

She was convicted and sentenced to hang. The state waited until she had given birth — the baby was stillborn — and then executed her in December 1855.

She was nineteen years old.
