As a profession we should be ashamed that unregulated assistants with a fraction of the training are giving anaesthetics whilst dedicated anaesthetists can’t get higher training posts.

Can someone defend this?

We can't have a contradictory policy that says that a high level of training is necessary for safe patient care on the one hand and simultaneously abolish that high level of training for another group of practitioners to deliver similar care.
