Water can be one of the worst causes of damage to your property and leaks from faulty/ poorly installed pipework is one of the main reasons which are often installed in areas you cannot see

Getting the right level of survey is important.
The house may look good on the surface, but issues may be masked.
Water and electrics is a dangerous mix, but loose wiring in roof voids or mounting sockets too close to the floor can also lead to faults occurring or worse, fires.

Our surveyor undertook a Level 2 survey of a maisonette flat in the converted Love Lane Warehouses in Newcastle. A Grade II listed building, the property has been converted into various leasehold flats and commercial units, with some fairly spectacular views along the Quayside!

A roof and chimney stack in very poor condition. Lack of maintenance caused considerable water ingress, damage to finishes, mould growth and reduced thermal performance. Damp conditions in a building are linked to poor occupant health. It's important to get a survey carried out!

Our surveyor has found some interesting defects recently: Cracking along mortar joints, in a cavity wall, corresponding with cracking internally. Cause: possibly subsidence. Further investigation has been recommended.

We recently attended a property where the contractor had hit a leaking pipe. Although it appeared dry, after opening the floor we saw water had penetrated into the joists and boards.
A simple leak doesn't just affect the surface, it can have knock on effects for the full build up
