Yesterday Dr. Duncan Ojwang said Kenya power Don't make profits from Rural power consumption.
Because the cost of bringing the power from a station to the household is more than the consumption.

In rural sets up , a token worth ksh. 100 bob can last even more than a month because it's majorly used for lighting and charging a kadude phone.
No fridge, no TVs, cockers.
And most of them have bypassed the system hence using free electricity.

That's why they over tax the urban set ups to compensate for the money lost.

In today’s paper, the President ruto says the solution to Thika Road congestion is another expressway.

My people, this is where this govt fails the logic test once again.

Nairobi doesn’t suffer from a shortage of roads, it suffers from the absence of a serious mass commuter rail system.

Expressways assume everyone can afford tolls and own cars. Rail systems move more people, cheaper, faster, and with less strain on public finances.

Cities that invest in commuter rail move more people per hour at a fraction of the long-term cost of expressways.

When governments repeatedly choose expensive road projects over mass transit, it’s fair to ask who exactly these decisions are designed for.

And definitely it's them & not you. It's about them using it & getting kickbacks too. It's a sad situation

Zuku uses a technology called hybrid fiber coaxial (hfc). It uses copper cable for last mile connection to the house. Copper cable is exceedingly prone to noise. When I worked there, we spent a lot of time hunting for the noise due to customer complaints.
New ISPs are using Gigabit Passive Opticals (GPON) which uses fiber for lastmile and isn't prone to Noise issues
