"The merchant and Square have literally no idea what UTXO funded that payment."
@ODELLXYZ says Lightning payments give the payer better privacy than Apple Pay, and the user doesn't even have to think about it.
With all of the exploits in DeFi, Zcash, and all of the other insanely complex crypto systems we are reminded again that Bitcoin’s simplicity is its biggest feature.
i'm obsessed with AI DIY projects.
my favorite one right now is this broccoli farmer in hokkaido, japan using Codex to run his 100-hectare farm
this guy never studied agriculture, never inherited land, started out as a civil servant.
but he wanted his farm to run better, and instead of paying an engineering firm he couldn't afford, he just built the tools himself.
here's what he's built on his own:
> remote control of his greenhouse vents from a chat app, wired up with an esp32 board, a motor driver, and cloudflare workers
> a bot that checks each greenhouse's temperature and opens the vents when it gets too hot
> satellite crop-health data laid over a map of his own fields
> an airtable base linking his plots, tasks, materials, and sensors
> wiring diagrams of his electrical panels, generated from a photo
stuff like this used to be locked behind machinery and engineers only the big agribusinesses could pay for.
but this legend just breezed past all of it with a laptop and Codex lol
kind of happy to see this happening bitcoin (lightning) is the true 402 https://t.co/NoJ8OSXQQl currency, machine to machine, trustless, no admin keys.
@gringokiwi the only thing i liked was @zooko saying they going to implement trustless proof for everyone to proof coin supply, i think that should have been there from day 1
An unfortunate example of why I've long said not to expect Bitcoin to implement strong cryptographic privacy at the base layer.
Doing so greatly increases risk of undetectable monetary supply inflation. Few folks value privacy more than supply integrity.

For @gnosispay users:
You will be able to continue using your physical and virtual card(s), but they will be linked to a new onchain Gnosis Pay Safe. Make sure to NOT send funds to old one anymore as they will be likely lost!
All old Pay Safes were vulnerable and have therefore been replaced. Depending on the owner structure, only some were actually compromised and drained (by either white or black hat).
If your old Safe was drained, your new Safe will be funded by Gnosis. If it was not compromised, you will need to migrate your funds to the new Safe.
great! thanks for the fast execution, although we would have loved that you share your internal plans also with your partners, because we suffered quite a lot keeping up with you and also implementing this into @nuri for @gnosispay users using it within our wallet. The best would be to be invited in something like a "partner dev chat" to be honest, also with other people like @zealwallet and co. which will also make communication with partners for you much easier i guess.
In my humble opinion:
Velocity: High turnover means it’s actively used as money, not just hoarded.
Volatility: Huge volume hitting a strictly fixed supply naturally causes price swings.
Proof: Stocks sit still. Gold sits still. Bitcoin actually moves value 24/7.
