@CAMHnews@CMHAToronto
I am working on a project at Laurier #em203 about the barriers to mental health treatment in Canada.
We'd love to hear from you!
What do you believe are the greatest barriers present for Canadians currently and what are your proposed solutions?
Many Canadians are living with mental illnesses and not receiving the care they need. Significant barriers are preventing Canadians from accessing treatment.
I believe virtual mental health services can address some of these barriers, do you?
@CAMHnews@CMHAToronto#em203
For my spread the news project I will be looking at the various barriers to accessing mental health treatment. I believe this is a prominent current issue that needs more attention and solutions implemented.

The role of young people in this election cannot be understated. Turnout delivered on many of these races.
By 2024, Millennials & Gen Z voters will outnumber voters who are Baby Boomers and older, 45/25.
We are beginning to see the political impacts of that generational shift.

This article shows how communication technologies are not just beneficial to learning, they can be a great tool in the mental health field. They allow us to address some issues that are barriers towards treatment, such as access to care.
@Philosophy_DQ As we head into the second half our school term, I think this message is important to keep in mind. No matter what challenges we have faced, we must trust the process, focus on our wins, and remember that challenges are opportunities to grow!
A problem I identified for my topic of health, specifically mental health, is access to treatment. Often times people are suffering and are unable to access treatment due to geographical, financial, work or time related restrictions. @EM203MelissaP @EM203hmotard
Another problem that I identified for your concept map focused on obesity is, a lack of education. Education on the importance of exercise and a healthy diet and how to do so. This can also be related to the problem you identified of low income. @EM203AndrewL740
@Emilyyoungg_ Hi Emily! I agree the ability to communicate more readily is a wonderful tool for learning, but at the same time has its disadvantages. I find that it can be hard to get away from our phones as there is an expectation of being responsive, have you felt this way before?
@EM203longley Hi Morgan, I also have been learning how to use and navigate twitter! I really like how quick it is to see what is going on, create conversation, and the word count ensures you are concise in your message! A powerful tool for sure.
@EM203ijovkovic Hi Ivana! This was also one of my biggest take-aways from the course content so far. Do you think that having multi-media options is beneficial to our learning? I know sometimes I find it overwhelming, but it is great to have options for all of our different learning styles.
@EM203ebranco Hi Emily! I know I was shocked when learning about how much the internet has changed the way we learn and communicate, I wonder how things will change in the upcoming years, what do you think?
The course has been filled with great learning opportunities. I’ve thought deeper about how I learn and why. I’ve done more hands-on learning than in other courses. I even had fun getting to create a comic, using social media, and trying an expert level sudoku. #EM203Robin
@EM203Ecarvalho Hi Emily! I too have thought more about how I learn and the best strategies to succeed with my learning. I am curious to know, what learning style do you identify with the most? I also have enjoyed the hands on learning style, especially because I am a kinesthetic learner!
So far in #EM203Robin I have learned about the impact the internet has had on our society, the way we communicate, and learn! This shift requires us to be aware of our learning styles so we can fully benefit from the availability of multi-media sources. Can't wait to learn more!
