“Communists identify with a particular political party. Americans shouldn’t.”
Views expressed are mine. I’m not a f’n trad wife so don’t drag @pye into this.
A pickle company had more dignity than every Republican in Congress. They saw a Confederate flag and walked. Shameless that politicians can't manage the same.
1. Why is it fake? Are you admitting these are bad people?
2. Antifa in costume…of racists? Why would that be a costume? Unless you’re admitting most people assume these are your guys…
3. Agree with your last sentence and will add, “especially federal law enforcement.”
America burned Japan's first gift of cherry trees. All 2,000 of them, on President Taft's direct order.
The 1910 shipment arrived in DC crawling with insects and nematodes. Agriculture inspectors condemned the lot, Taft signed off on the bonfire, and the State Department braced for a diplomatic disaster. Tokyo's mayor, Yukio Ozaki, responded by sending 3,020 more, grafted from the famous grove along the Arakawa River.
Those trees have spent a century paying the friendship back.
Four days after Pearl Harbor, vandals chopped down four of them. Park officials renamed the survivors "Oriental" cherry trees for the rest of the war to protect them from axes.
Then came the twist. By 1952 the original Arakawa grove in Tokyo, the parent stock, had nearly died from wartime neglect. Japan asked Washington for help. The Park Service shipped budwood from DC's trees back across the Pacific and restored the grove that created them. When a flood wiped out more Japanese trees in 1982, horticulturists took 800 fresh cuttings from the Tidal Basin.
These 250 new trees solve a real problem too. The Tidal Basin is sinking, and a $133 million seawall rebuild forced crews to rip out roughly 150 trees. Japan offered replacements before anyone asked, timed to America's 250th birthday.
So the genetics run in a loop. Tokyo's grove seeded Washington's. Washington's saved Tokyo's. The saplings going in this spring descend from both.
114 years of diplomacy, running on grafted branches.
In this remarkable image of white supremicists on a subway train in Washington I see cowards afraid to show their faces and a strong woman who shouldn't have to put up with this shit.

I have thought more about this. It is shocking and painfully symbolic that this photograph, which could’ve been lifted from 1968 in Birmingham, Alabama, happened on our nation’s 250th anniversary. And it happened because of the open embrace of racism by the Trump administration.
Show your faces, cowards.
The patriots at Lexington and Concorde mustered in order, signed their names in ink and pledged their honor in blood.
The signers of the Declaration announced themselves to the world, they pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor openly and without shame.
They are patriots, you are not. You hide behind masks and seek the confort of anonymity so you can sling your hate without consequence.
These masked men hate America more than any liberal I know.
They hate the fact that America is a nation built by immigrants.
They hate that America is a democracy instead of a dictatorship.
They hate that America is built on a separation of church and state; they want to be a theocratic regime.
The people who call themselves “Patriot Front” ironically hate everything about America.
"The success of the US mens national soccer team comes in spite of Trump, not because of him. Half of the roster is made up of dual citizenship holders, foreign-born players, and children of immigrants. Coach Mauricio Pochettino is Argentine. This team is a repudiation of everything Trump stands for and is working towards. It could never exist in the world that Trump has tried to bring about with his brutal immigration crackdowns and isolationist foreign policy. You can’t take credit for the success of the team while simultaneously trying to eliminate the conditions necessary for it to exist."

I just think it’s funny that the “Patriot Front” jabroneys are too embarrassed to show their faces carrying the American flag. Not very patriotic.
Likewise, it’s funny that people who call themselves American patriots carry flags for a cause that sought to destroy America.
But, hey, if they want to march in equatorial heat to be mocked by pretty much everyone that’s cool.
I just don’t think they’ve thought through any of this very well.
Milton Friedman was an amazing economist who did an excellent job of educating the masses on free markets and JD Vance is a brown-nosing Vice President who makes excuses for the Trump American Socialist model.
It's important for us all to acknowledge these white supremacists aren't marching with masks and sunglasses in our Nation's Capital out of personal safety.
They're masked because they're cowards. They lack conviction. They're gutless. They're timid. They're soft.
