I’m seeing soooo many dogs being returned to the shelters lately after barely a day or two.

Shelters dogs do not magically know they are “safe” just because they left the cement prison of hell.

There should be very slow “controlled” introductions to existing pets in the home. There are a few ways to do this properly. Ask for help if you are unsure the right way to do this.

Give them time to decompress & acclimate to a new environment. They are still in fight or flight mode.

Know the breed and expectations of that breed before adopting. Make sure you have the time and patience to help them succeed.

The transformation doesn’t happen overnight. It takes roughly 3mths before a dog is fully settled & their real personality can shine. I promise you it’s worth the work & wait.
