Thanks for all the comments. This hit me hard after publishing a blog on the professionalization of youth sports. The idea that we are crowning children who sleep with teddy bears as national champs and creating obstacles to participation by requiring long travel is so sad.
Seriously, any organization running national championships for 7 year olds is basically exploiting your children in order to make a buck. When will parents stand up and say enough?
