they are since i do interactive rebase and they wont allow broken commits, which is useless

mostly prefer inferred

Good advice, but I'll also counter-point a bit:

You definitely don't have to _learn_ things you don't need yet.

But there's value in knowing that THING exists and vaguely what it does, whether it be a library, tool technique, etc.

Then you can look up more details when needed.
