It was an honor to host the Foreign Mister of Belize, Francis Fonseca. Today, our two nations signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Enhancing Border Security and Public Safety Cooperation. Through information sharing, our partnership will combat combat illegal migration and transnational criminal organizations.
Just wrapped up a productive meeting of the Group of Friends of Belize and Guatemala, with the participation of both Foreign Ministers. I commended the committed leadership in both countries to the Belize-Guatemala process. I also welcomed their reaffirmation of commitment to peace and dialogue. The OAS will continue to support the process and the work in the Adjacency Zone.

This morning, Prime Minister Briceño received a phone call from U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
They both discussed bilateral interests including investment, the MCC and trade tariffs regime. PM Briceño updated the Secretary of State on the Belize-Guatemala case before the ICJ.
They both engaged on the situation in Haiti, where strengthened international support is desperately needed to avert further crisis.

The Government of Belize takes note of the new U.S. tariff regime announced yesterday by President Donald Trump.
Our officials are currently and rapidly analyzing the information and will be consulting with the relevant stakeholders to ensure Belize's economic interests are safeguarded through bilateral dialogue with U.S. officials and coordination with CARICOM.
Foreign Minister Fonseca addressed the OAS Permanent Council on the 2024 Report of OAS Office in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone. 2025 marks 20 years since the signing of the Confidence Building Measures which is critical to ensuring peace, stability and goodwill between the two countries.
