“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return”

It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my father, Mohammed (Moe) Amery, who passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by his family.

There are few words that I can muster at this time to describe how much our family will miss him or how shattered we are. We know that he touched so many people over his lifetime and I am simply devastated to have to bring this news to all of you.

He was a pioneer in so many ways and our family was privileged to have spent as much time as we had with him. His legacy will long be remembered and his guidance, steadfastness and courage are attributes that were unparalleled by anyone I know.

While he achieved so much during his lifetime, I know that he was most proud of his family and we are all eternally grateful for everything he did for us. His love for his family, his friends and his community were fundamental in everything that he did.

We are thankful for the outpouring of support. This has been a challenging time for our family - I know that many of you have sent messages and called and we have simply been overwhelmed with the support from all of you. Our entire family is are very blessed to have all of you in our lives.

May your loved ones always be healthy, happy and close to you.
