"I think we've reached a point where it will be hard to imagine that mass audiences can afford thousands of dollars to spend on a console generation," @XBOX CEO @asha_shar said at #BrainstormTech.
"I think we will start to see radically different business models that we never expected start to come into orbit later this year." https://t.co/0OkIaZMGJX
@JuiceHead33@2Wireg@JezCorden I mean it would make sense to still advocate for no exclusivity on other platforms even if you’re not going to play it. Change doesn’t happen if you stop advocating for it. Your being selective on what you deem is a problem and are making yourself sound contradictory.
@tomwarren A lot has changed since Asha came into role 107 days ago. We are moving fast and it’s frankly pretty energizing inside the hallways here. I was made aware of these exclusives roughly a month in advance. Hope that helps!
@tomwarren Hey Tom, I can confirm this is not true. We just limited the knowledge of this news to a very small internal group. Intention was to share this news first with our players and everyone watching showcase.
@tomwarren@aarongreenberg I’m guessing from a specific pov it was a last minute decision. From the marketing side of things. But the actual decision was made a while back and only made public very close to the show.
"Matthew Ball went on to acknowledge that certain Xbox exclusives will sell fewer units than they might otherwise if they were multiplatform, but that is a short-term issue, and making these changes will help Xbox’s console business grow in the future".
Common sense is back at Xbox, holy shit.
